making a hotspot and the last step isnt working

I have followed every step in creating a hotspot out of my laptop, but the last step of the process is to go into network connections, right click Ethernet, select properties, select sharing, enable sharing, then select the newly created wifi under a drop box. On my laptop I could do all those things except for selecting my newly created wifi.
