Had this device come out with 3D touch buggy or not hiw much of an impact on todays smartphones do you think it would've had seeing how the fruit claims it on their latest devices?

It would not have worked much but it would have given incentive to create better devices based on the new features and capabilities. The same way surface devices have led to others trying their versions

It would have made absolutely no impact on the market.

For example, Lumia 950 introduced Iris scanning to the market a year ago. No one was talking about it then, but now that Samsung has introduced Iris scanning, everyone is suddenly talking about it.
