Memory allocation...

Alright..as my signature says, I am on a RaZr right now. I've had a hard time in understanding the memory allocation and distribution on this Phone. Heck I've even forgotten how much was my phone...it was allegedly 16gb.
Now comes the bad part. Apparently 8 is for "internal" usage and the rest is for "user".

Then the internal 8 is again split in some God forbidden way.

I'm just plain sick.

So, lets say, I buy 8X 16gb. How much does the person, as a user WHO FREAKING OWNS THE PHONE get?

How much will be "internal" "system" & "user"??

Will I get all 16 of it at my disposal?

And if we move away from 8X for one instance, how is the memory distribution in WP8 in general?

(Don't think this point is discussed before hence the thread.)

Well on my HD7 it's 16GB but after formatting and such about 14.6 was available. So I imagine the 8X will be the same.

With WP7, the "system" uses a couple of GB. Theres then a user definable portion for apps and stuff (configurable in Zune), and the rest is for music/pictures.

Nice...so i guess it leaves me with 14 gb approx + 7 gb skydrive am I correct?

If you started skydrive before feb then you will have 25GB.

log in at skydrive.com, available storage space will be in the bottom left corner. under that is a link titled 'manage storage'. click that and it will tell you how much you have.
