can somebody tell me the difference between the messaging app and Skype preview on windows 10? I'm trying to send text. I know how to send texts via Cortana but i want to be able to see the thread in my conversation like on iMessage.

MS/Skype pulled the integration from the messaging app with the release of Skype preview, so the main difference is one works the other doesn't.

I do hope at some time in the future that sending SMS and calls from PC's using your phones allowances does happen, I don't mind if it's built into Skype or as separate apps, as long as it happens.

Thanks for the response. Ok...so I wasn't going crazy, because I swore it worked at one point. Yeah...I'm with you. I hope that happens too. If I'm correct, doesn't Skype preview on W10M do it? I have a Note 5 so I wouldn't know.

Did everyone else text messages stop syncing on after the anniversary update? On my SP3 I have text messages up to August 3rd when I installed anniversary update :)

Stop syncing on what? Skype or the messaging app?

Why don't you read the top couple of messages, then you would know that the messaging + Skype app was pulled and some time in the future Skype will hopefully take over this role, in the meantime you can still send SMS via a Windows phone using Cortana.

oh I figured they pulled out skype fine but why sms. sms syncing was there before skype integration.
