What is Microsoft going to do in mango to offer a books/magazine deal? Google has google books and apple and itunes books.

With Google Books and Kindle apps available do we really need yet another online book store?

i'm cool with just having the Kindle app on my DVP. Don't personally see any need for more than that.

I'd like to have a B&N app myself. But that's just because a book I want isn't available via amazon digital, but is for B&N.

I'd be all for it, I'm still a "real" book kind of guy, but I do occasionally download an e-book or 2, so why not download it from Microsoft instead of Amazon right? Implementing magazines on there would sell me too

I'd be surprised if they didn't offer some sort of magazine/newspaper service eventually. NewsStand on iOS5 is pretty good, and I suspect there'll be something similar on Android soon enough. Some of the magazines available are ultra-lazy PDF scans, which is disappointing, but some are really nice apps in their own right.

Books will always be around, but the dead tree press only has 10 years or so left in it, max.
