MS released their Q2 earnings today and for the most part revenue and net income was up across the board. I'm not going to bother posting the numbers since they are available on any article like this for example:

However, the one number everyone is focusing on is the $900 million write off for the Surface RT. MS is getting killed in the media today by those who aren't even bothering to report on anything other than the $900 million figure. Of course there are the obligatory comparisons to the iPad and how in comparison MS' venture into tablets was a failure.
Many places are also ragging on Windows 8 by saying it was a flop just because they did not report the number of licenses they sold.
If that wasn't bad enough comment sections are full of Apple and Android trolls repeating the same nonsense. Seems like a good day to avoid tech sites.
