Microsoft's first budget level phone shipped with Windows 10 Mobile is the Lumia 550. Have you recently bought one yourself? Have you felt that something was not right with it or wasn't working well? Some hiccups or snags? If "yes", then fire off below and let us know what you've found.

It is worth noting that with any phone, there are bad units. One sample may not be representative of the model as a whole. Circumstances vary and others may not be able to replicate your issue right away, or at all.

Is it behaving oddly, is something just not right? This is the place for discussion of software and hardware issues!

[TIP]Here is some useful information you may find yourself needing.:

Some issues with responsiveness and app delays can be resolved by either restarting your phone or performing a Soft Reset.

If things get a bit more serious, you may opt to perform a hard reset or software reset.

Lastly, if things really get serious, you may need the Software Recovery Tool to recover your phone back to working order - head over to this Microsoft FAQ page for more info.

Make sure to check the official Windows 10 Mobile Support page as well for some of the most common tips and trouble shooting guides.[/TIP]

[INFO]Restarting your phone involves turning it off and then turning it on again. Turn off your phone by pressing the power button until you are prompted to "Slide down to power off". Turn your phone on again by pressing the power button until it vibrates.

A soft reset is similar to pressing the reset button in PCs and has the same effect as pulling out the battery of your phone and then putting it back in. For phones with non-removable batteries, press the volume down and power button together until your phone restarts. Be aware that when using Windows 10, the voume down and power button combination will also launch Windows Feedback. Just continue to hold down the buttons for a full 10 seconds in order to trigger the soft reset. For phones with removable batteries, you can either opt for the button combination or remove the battery and then return it.

A hard reset or a software reset will reformat your phone by removing all the user information leaving only the bare OS and firmware currently installed in your phone. It does erase data so you should always keep a good backup of your phone just in case you have to resort to this option.

The software reset can be done by going to your phone Settings > System > About > tap on "Reset your phone." You will be prompted once before doing this just to be sure. Be sure, also, to have everything backed up since there would be no way to recover all of your files.

The hard reset accomplishes the same thing as the software reset, but can be accomplished when the phone is non-responsive and you are unable to enter into settings. To perform the Hard Reset, "Power off the phone > hold Volume Down > press Power > keep holding Volume Down until you see the exclamation (!) screen, then immediately release the Volume Down. Now tap Volume Up / Volume Down / Power / Volume Down. You should see the spinning gears and your phone will reflash the last OS version held in recovery.

The Software Recovery Tool is the final option, for example for "bricked" phones that would no longer turn on, be charged, etc. This can be used to either roll back to a previous OS version or force an update to a more current OS version[/INFO]

Remember, when reporting bugs be descriptive! The more information you give, the better the chance someone will be able to help you.

What OS version? Any special conditions that should be noted? What were you doing? What is the result? Any error codes or messages given? What have you tried for solutions? What variant of the phone are you using? Single SIM or Dual SIM?

Please describe as much as possible about the bug so others may try and replicate the bug and don't make suggestions for solutions that you have already tried which have failed...

re: Microsoft Lumia 550 Bugs & Defects

My phone had already been updated with the windows 10 update which took more than 2 hrs when I bought it..I set the app download option to "device" only. But the whatsapp "favourite section" doesn't populate any contact.i deleted & reinstall whatsapp twice but no luck. Even when using wiffi the store doesn't open up, gives an error to check the connection while at home however can use wifi to receive whats app messages. Has the windows 10 beta got anything to do with it?is it the beta version of windows running on 550?

re: Microsoft Lumia 550 Bugs & Defects

It seems that after installing of build 107 the Lumia 550 I gave as a present to a smartphone newcomer tends to crash a lot when data connection is enabled and any app that uses it is opened. The phone hangs, goes in flight mode and crashes totally after that. It worked pretty well before that. I tried several hard reset with and without using a backup already. The last thing i will try is going the way with the Software Recovery Tool and hoping that things fixes with build 122. Has anyone other ideas?

I've got a few bugs - 550 with 10586 build:
1. Glance: The intensity of the backlighting is adjusted by the light sensor even if this function is disabled in the screen settings. Why? In addition to this odd behaviour, in complete darkness I feel that the brightness levels are too low for the Glance screen to be readable.
2. The Store tile becomes active and shows recommended apps when the phone connects to the internet, even if the live tile option is disabled in settings.
3. People tile doesn't refresh: if you change the picture of a contact, you'll still have the old picture displayed. Tried everything, even removing the battery for 30 minutes. Also, the tile doesn't show all the profile photos, only a small number of them than never changes. I'm stuck with the same 7-8 photos!

Surfing is a pain, can't view any web page at all really.
Phone turns off when getting sms and on low battery.

How do I roll back to previous windows 10 version?

Ok, my emails stopped syncing with my phone and nothing worked to get it synced again so I went for a hard reset.
Now when trying to restore my setting it can't connect to my network even though password and connection established.

These updates are really starting to **** me off.

Just discovered a MAJOR BUG!!

After you turn the volume to silent on both Ringer + Notifications and Media + Apps, then turn them back up to your desired level, the phone makes no sound at all for notifications or ringing.

GRRRRR

Anyone else?

Hi,
My Lumia 550 is at present a black brick, with just an occaisional vibration heard. No amount of hard reset works!
Thought ok I read there's a recovery tool.
Gues what the 550 is not listed, when you click on the 'my phone is not listed' tab you get 'your device cannot be recovered!
Yet I read that other 550 owners can use RT, so what am I missing?
Phone was fine, full battery next moment a black piece of plastic with an occaisional bibration.
Yep batter is good, swapped it with another Lumia.
