I've never been able to reproduce that Google-esque result. I ALWAYS get the normal response. So seems like much of the uproar must have just been about something in testing, not a general release. Nothing wrong with MS testing out different UI's, especially if in the Canary or Dev channels of the browser (but I didn't get it even in those in my testing).

Another possible difference, I exclusively use Windows 11 Pro across all my computers (for the full networking stack and Remote Desktop support). I have heard people talk about advertising in the Start menu too, which I've also never seen. I assume (but don't know for sure) that's a Home-Pro difference. I wonder if some of these things only happen to Windows 11 Home users.
