A few days back, someone mentioned they had an audio problem with their Windows Phone device, and they ended up taking it to the Microsoft Store and walked out with a replacement.

I was wondering, is this typical of Microsoft? Will they replace defective phones just like the Apple Store does, or will they tell you to call your phone's manufacturer?

Lol this is exactly what happened when I asked this question in the thread where the guy got his device replaced--no one replied. :P

I suppose no one knows the answer because not many people have a Microsoft Store near them. I guess I'll just call them up and let you guys know what they say.

Someone else posted a while back that they brought their phone at a Microsoft store and got a replacement a couple of times due to some minor physical flaws they detected.

I didn't buy at a Microsoft Store though. I was wondering more along the lines if you're under warranty with the manufacturer will they replace it rather than you having to go to HTC and deal with their poor customer support? I'll call and ask later today.

All right, so I called and they're only willing to replace if you bought it from their store. Also, you have to be the person who bought it from the store, I assume they require your receipt.

Also, their Assure seems decent. The representative told me it was $30 for two years. So it's sort of like SquareTrade except you'd be able to swap in store. I don't know about accidental damage and handling coverage, but I think that's an add-on for more $ plus possibly a deductible.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal...When I upgrade I will definitely by my phone in one of those store.

Yeah, even if it were $50, that'd still be much cheaper than SquareTrade, AppleCare, and probably most, if not all of whatever's out there. And two years coverage!
