Microsoft to Keep Nokia Name For Lumia Devices?

As I've heard read that the acquisition has been done for the Microsoft/Nokia deal, I saw on the Facebook and Twitter Nokia pages that they'll continue to use the Nokia name on Lumia smartphones for some time. Is this really true? Personally, I think it's a good idea as more people are familiar with the name and Nokia is known for their quality. So I'm thinking tablets will be Microsoft Surface branded and phones will be Microsoft's Nokia Lumia branding?

I think it will probably be called Microsoft Mobile. Looks like the Lumia name will be dropped.

I thought they won't use the Nokia name since they don't have the rights to use it for smartphones. (i thought the Asha would stick around with the Nokia name)
but the Lumia subbrand would stay probably.

I know that they have the right to use both the Lumia and Nokia names but not necessarily together. I heard on the Windows Weekly podcast that Microsoft can use both Nokia and Lumia but Nokia was only allowed for the Asha line of phones. Also Microsoft Mobile is what they're calling it internally for legal documentation and such, not necessarily what they're going to be called to the public. If I had to guess, the WP line will just be Lumia but we'll see.

They can use the Nokia name for smartphones. It's an internal strategic decision not to do so and only limit it to the Asha line.

I think they should use the Nokia name on smartphones though. But considering the low market share that Nokia had in smartphones;I can see why they might not do it. In smartphones, the Lumia name is almost as known as Nokia.

This is a really tough business decision. On one end, Nokia already is well known. It has a sentimental value to it and I'm sure a lot of people would be p!ssed off if it disappears. On the other end, putting everything sentimental aside, it makes much more sense to unify everything and have it all under one name.
