Were you aware that there is a military discount available at the online Microsoft store? I just found it today when checking something on the site, so thought I'd share: Military and Veterans Discount Program - Microsoft Store

I'm a spouse of a retired service member, so apparently I am eligible for this discount. Since I've already placed my order for my new Surface Book (YAY), I quickly hopped onto Chat to ask if they could attach the discount, which appears to be the same as the educational discount, onto my order. Turns out they don't have any way to do that on an order that's already underway, but they told me that after I receive it, I can just contact them and have them process it as a partial refund! Anyway, since it's a nice 10% off, I wanted to share with everyone here.

Well, I had a chance to stop by one of my local MS stores today to add Complete, and while I was there, they credited me the 10% discount I missed getting when I ordered, since I wasn't aware of the Military discount at that time. I thought I was going to have to do that via phone or chat since I had purchased on line, but they were more than happy to process it there. I ended up getting a Complete bundle for $349 instead of paying $249 just for Complete. This included a $60 Brenthaven case, a one-year Office 365 subscription ($99 value - I subscribe anyway, so this was no different than paying my renewal when it comes up), a 12-month Skype WiFi subscription (meh - don't know if I'll have any opportunity to use it, but whatever), 12-month Assurance support subscription (again meh - DH has oodles of these vouchers laying around from when he worked at MS until quite recently), and a $60 app/video/music store voucher which I will definitely use. So all in all, I guess I got about $120 extra value out of it, since I don't really care about the Skype voucher so much. Oh, also one-year Xbox Live - not sure how much that's worth, but I'll give it to my niece and nephew since I know they use it. All in all not a bad deal, and the whole process was pretty painless.

While I was there, I also picked up my new Band2 as well as got a Complete replacement of my original Band, so now I have one to give away or sell, I guess. I will also add, for anyone in the Seattle area, that Monique at the Ur-Village store is amazing.
