Super-sensitive touch screen, better viewing in sunlight, wireless charging, camera with OIS that blows every other phone camera away... but yeah HTC and Samsung are clearly leading the way in terms of innovation.

*prepares for "it's too big and heavy for me" counter-argument*

It's most likely a Rogers app that will allow those that also subscribe to Rogers' cable TV to watch TV on their phone.

The 920 camera is a huge deal, the screen not so much.
For as much **** as I gave Nokia for not only failing to bring the 41mm sensor of it's 808 brother and for lying at first. The camera did show to be better than every other rival camera in the dark.

The screen has nice add ons yes, being readable in direct sunlight is something every manufacturer say about their screens. I don't trust that one as much, but Windows Phone 8 does have a high contrast mode, so all WP8 devices should be readable on direct sunlight.

The Butterfly screen has higher resolution than current devices, a much higher one. A ppi not seen in phones so far and great vibrant colors. Everyone that saw the device was blown away by the screen.

no one is blown away by the 920 screen, they are blown away by the camera. You have to be crazy to actually believe the 920 screen is more impressive than the one on the J Butterfly, when is just comparable to current top of the line screens. Let's not get carried away.

Any idea what Anyplace TV Live is?

It's Rogers' on-demand content available on your smart device. If it's anything like Bell's Mobile TV offering, you pay a nominal fee for a certain allotment of hours/month, and watch whatever, even off WiFi without it using up your data. Also, unlike one other member suggested, you don't have to subscribe to their home TV service to use it.

I'd argue that the ability to use a screen with gloves is more important than a DPI increase that will be hard to notice and kill performance (pushing that many more pixels isn't free). But that's just me.

No everyone lives in a cold area, everyone looks at their screens. Is a welcome addition but is not a major innovation. Like Wireless charging is a cool gimmick that will impress people when the visit their stores.

For me the ability to operate with gloves on is one of the bigger selling points for me, as here in Finland easily half the year is cold enough to be wearing gloves and not being able to even answer a call on the traditional smartphone screen is really annoying. At -30 celsius you dont want to take that glove off :D

That said, there is more to it. While perhaps a gimmick too (as in no real reason as to why not just use a finger), but I'm really excited about being able to use anything as a DIY stylus. Means a lot more to me than few extra PPIs or larger screen or blacker blacks.

The Lumia 900 was already verified as the best in this department by a significant margin. The 920 improves on what was already the best already.

It's a great screen. But your eyes can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on screens that small.

Plenty of people are blown away by it. They're blown away by the unrivaled sensitivity. They love the clarity when moving quickly, which will be awesome for action movies. You just happen to dismiss this because for some reason you thing a screen is only about resolution.

Din't even get why he even bothers mentioning android phones here on wpcentral. Weird

Sorry about mistaken your gender, I hope it didn't offend.
Why wouldn't the opinion of someone I don't know rub me the wrong way? I though it was the wrong thing to say and needed to be corrected. The fact I don't know you makes it better, because it shows there's no harsh feelings behind it.

I'm not offended, no harm done. Just wanted to clarify.

I didn't think there were harsh feelings, just wondering why it would bother you that much that I'm not a fan of the Ativ (or Samsung, for that matter).

It doesn't bother me that you are not a fan of the ATIV. Just wanted to show that the hate over being the same as the GS3 is unwarranted. There's things to dislike about the ATIV but I just found weird that you will bash the ATIV for being an unispired copy of the GS3, while praising the 920 which looks about the same as the 900.

Reminds me too much of Palm Pre fans.

The Ativ S looks like a clone of the Galaxy S3. They changed the shape a little, but it is still a Galaxy S3. I don't personally mind that it is a Galaxy S3 clone since the Galaxy S3 is a solid phone.

I know our buddy Winterfang likes to pick fights, but really- I think it would be a little more boring around here without him, so I am glad he isn't on Android Central. (or at least splits time!!)

If we are being honest, who wouldn't be gleeful and excited if HTC brought that gorgeous screen from the Butterfly J to a WP8? Why even debate it? We would be excited!!

As for these screen shots and the hands on article, I see a ton of potential here. While I am still aghast over HTC's decision to stick 16 GB of non-expandable memory on their flagship (although I still wouldn't be shocked to see a Titan 3 coming after the first of the year with more/expandable memory), I can see the appeal. Still not sure the 820-family from Nokia ain't a better option, but boy it is a nice looking device.

But, I am sorry, in my opinion the 920 and the ATIV are just amazing looking devices. Not seeing the "GS3" copycat attacks, but I do see the flagship influence. But there are enough differences to set it apart. I bet it will look even classier in person.

Happy for Rogers, and I am glad I am on AT&T!!

Hardly can believe I just typed that sentence...

lol I'm not going to Android Central, He was trolling Crackberry posters the other day.

And yeah that Butterfly screen is fantastic. I bet if 920 would had the same specs people here will be losing their Goddamn minds. (Myself included)

Ok sorry bout that. U do have a point. J butterfly is a good phone. But not much of my taste Since I don't like too powerful phones. I follow what is the standard. And yes. I also do have a bb bold 9900. And those people are so judgemental? Going over the limit.......is not much of my taste. But at least I'm getting a Ativ S for me. Since i'm more of a samsung person and 920 for my girlfriend. Since she's a photographer

So yea. Sorry winterfang man

Devices I'm getting.

Where exactly in my original post did I bash anything? I merely stated that I thought the phone looked just like the GSIII. Nothing more, nothing less. I find it funny that you would accuse me of bashing, though, since you've said more than once that you find the Nokia Lumia 810 to be "hideous beyond belief."

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it looks like a GSIII. Yet my thoughts are deemed as "lying" simply because of my personal perception. Sheesh...

The Ativ is one ugly phone... How can it be considered "innovative" at all when all Samsung did was take their Galaxy S III design, splash metallic paint on it and put in the WP8 OS?? Eh...

Come on Metalchick. You already said you were merely misinforme just leave it at that, you don't have to imply your previous post was neutral.

And yes I do admit calling the 810 Hideous beyond belief after seeing it on pictures, but that's just my taste, I'm not really spreading incorrect information.

Sure we'd love it. It's cool. It doesn't make that big a difference in actual screen clarity, but it's still pretty damn cool. And in the world of smart phones, it is innovative. Though I am not quite sure how practical that particular innovation is.

You see, most of us can appreciate that it's cool. And if we had it without having to sacrifice too much, we'd gladly take it.

But you dismiss Nokia's innovations that have real practical benefits as not very innovative. Yet you tout something without any real practical use as the next big thing that all OEMs should follow.

You don't make much sense.

I can the same the for your posts. We just have different priorities. In our eyes, Your innovations are gimmicks and my innovations are not practical.

That being said, I'm sure we will see more manufactures copying HTC butterfly screen than Nokia's. The ones that saw the phone say the higher res is actually quite noticeable and there's nothing else out yet.

People tout Samsung for not being innovative also, yet look at the Note. Is the kind of phone no one knew they wanted and now everything is copying them.
