Monitor recommendations for Surface Pro 2

Just got a Surface Pro 2 and am looking for a decent monitor to pair it with. I currently have a 17" 1440x900 but was looking for a 24" or so.

What resolution would you recommend?

Am I right in thinking the SP2 can run at 4k (UHD 3840x2160)? I'm currently lusting after one of the Dells: 24 inch or 32 inch

The massive text in modern Windows operating systems means that 640x480 should be fine.
