Move to Galaxy S5 or Stick with Verizon's Hobbled Icon

Yeah it does seem that a lot of people like to harp on about android and how laggy it is. Guessing they haven't used android in quite some time.

MS releasing office for free on iOS and Android today makes it even more appealing. I own both Surface RT models and a Surface Pro 3 and todays news that Android is getting a touch office beta for tablets just makes me even more annoyed with MS. I can basically be on any platform and get all of MS services and in the case of Office on Windows Phone the software is even better on those other platforms.

Same here. Got tired of waiting and got an LG 3G two weeks ago. Nice thing is that all the Microsoft apps are still available on Android. Bing, OneDrive, Here maps (beta), smart glass, and my Microsoft health band works great on it. I do miss the way WP handled Bluetooth in the car over Android. But overall I seem to have a windows Android phone.

Rather than buy an Icon or other Windows Phone, I have decided I am going to get a Galaxy S5 as well. Microsoft has done nothing to make me want to stick with them. The whole rollout of updates has been a joke. Everyone I know that has a GS5 is very pleased with it. Also, Android isn't as laggy as it used to be, and it can't be any worse than my NL822, which is insultingly slow and locks up constantly. The camera on the GS5 is more than enough for me. I was half-tempted to get a One M8 for Windows, but again, don't want to be burned by the awful update process in the future. Also, the camera on that phone is a non-starter.
I still love the interface of Windows Phone, so I will be loading Launcher 8 onto it to mimic the appearance of WP. The increase in apps and better compatibility with devices (my vehicle works better with the GS5 than any of the WP).

I had the exact opposite experience. I owned the Galaxy S5 for about a month and it was by far the worst phone I've ever owned. I would have driven to Mountainview, California from New Jersey to take it back to Google if I needed to. It was buggy, laggy, and the user interface with TouchWiz is nauseating. You can't even change the 1990s teal color scheme of the menus. Plus it feels like a plastic toy.

Additionally there's no physical camera button, none of the keyboards including Swype or Swiftkey is as good as the WP keyboard, etc. I could go on and on.

I do miss the intuitiveness of Google Now and also some of the more full featured apps but that's not nearly enough to woo back back to the piece of crap.

If I was going to go back to Android I would definitely go with the MotoX.

I love my Icon and wouldn't trade it for the Galaxy S5 in a million years.
