MS Authenticator with MS account

Hello all,

I've recently switched to a 950xl from a 920, so now I have the new authentication app, MS Authenticator...

But the thing is, it asked me to add my MS account and gives me for it an 8-digit code and at the same time, I also have the regular 6-digit one for the MS account, like for the other sites with 2FA codes.

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the two? if I have the 8-digit one, do I need the 6 one?

I, too, have not managed to figure this out. After moving from WP8, I turned off all authenticator apps using the Microsoft Account webpage. The new Authenticator app asks me to sign in and provides an 8 digit code, but it doesn't work. When I try to set it up again through the website, it shows a barcode.

I hope someone here has advice.
