1. It is MS fault because they missed to BUY the HERE part of Nokia !
2. The Android App will get more features then the WP app (like alternative routes)
3. The HERE team is now FOCUSING on Android and does not have any plans to add more features to the WP app
4. It IS a big deal

1) Microsoft tried to buy but Nokia didn't want to sell. What can they do? Point a gun in Nokia's head and threat them?
2) So let it be, Nokia is Nokia, Microsoft if Microsoft. HERE belongs to Nokia, why should Nokia care about WP of Microsoft?
3) Again, HERE belongs to Nokia, HERE do whatever Nokia tell them to do. Focusing on Android may be one of that
4) NO, it isn't... FFS, how old can you live? This is a freaking phone, not your own arms of legs, change it whenever it becomes bad and enjoy new one if you just cannot stand it anymore. What's the problem with changing a phone? a freaking mobile phone? Base on your idea, then no one should ever, ever. I meant: EVER buy a feature phone or Asha line anymore, hell with the "support" of those platforms

Not to mention, all of your "does not have any plans to add more features to the WP app" until now if just your assumption and imagination. Does Nokia or HERE confirm that they won't update HERE service on WP anymore, officially? Or just because someone in HERE didn't response to some strangers' question about WP in an article of Android?

Yet again, not all of us buy WP because of HERE services. I chose WP because it's WP, I just love the live tiles of WP and it' Nokia phone (it's freaking pretty phone IMO), nothing else. You don't need a bunch of reasons to like something. And you don't need to dig out bunch of disadvantages just to prove how you dislike it or want to change to another platform. You want to change to Android or iOS or whatever, just do it since you like it. The truth that WP's dead or not doesn't affect your life (unless you buy stock, well)

1. There was a time when MS could easily have purchased Google. Shall we blame them for not doing that, too? After all, in hindsight that would undoubtedly have been much more profitable than buying another Nokia division, assuming the monopoly regulators didn't swarm all over it.

2 and 3. Do you have sources for these statements, or are these your opinions? The link you posted previously was to a marketing PR page for the new Samsung-subsidized app, which of course wouldn't mention WP. I saw nothing in there about features of this particular version being exclusive to it in the long term, or that the team is focusing on this version to the exclusion of all others. If I missed something, or if you have additional sources, please specify.

4. I respect your opinion, but I don't share it. There may be a few people who choose WP over its competitors just because of the Here apps, but I sincerely doubt that it's a significant number. I realize you're trying to extrapolate this instance into a trend of Microsoft self-destructively working to dump WP, but I don't buy it. I also realize you're expressing your outrage over your perceptions of these issues. Do you hope to accomplish something by doing so?

I'm not familiar with what's going on with this development but perhaps they are making it better on android because they have to be competitive on that platform? It's not like you have to try hard on WP8.1 since the alternatives aren't so great either.

Heck, even owning Skype doesn't seem to be enough motivation either. MS could have killed if they made it rival apple's chat and facetime while being cross platform and deeply integrated into the phone. Balls have been dropped.

A third party software manufacturer provides different features of their free software for different platforms.

I don't see a problem with that strategy.

If this app is the deal breaker for you, then switch to the platform that provides you the features you prefer.

So you are ok that MS does not care anymore about core OS functions ?
Well, here never cared and can now do what they always wanted t to do, build a much better here app on Android.

You can now add here to the MS apps that are better on Android just like onenote or Skype

Dude, what the actual f**k are you trying to say? Bing maps is the core OS function and they should obviously improve that, but what does that have to do with HERE? It wasn't exclusive from Microsoft to sell Windows Phones, it was exclusive from Nokia to sell Lumias. Now that Nokia isn't making Lumias, what reason would it stay exclusive?

Can someone please close the thread, I need to make a thread complaining how the not-Microsoft-owned HBO doesn't make HBO GO exclusive to Windows.

Someone tell me what feature does Android version have that WP version doesn't? I went to the site and its the same. WP doesn't have wearables yet, so smart watch function is irrelevant.

What features are you talking about"? I read that you said alternate routes was one. Is there others because the alternate routes are fastest/balance/already distance on WP right?

No WP here app does not have alternative routes.
Alternative routes means more then one route suggestion.

So a company that is not Microsoft should make an app exclusive to Microsoft even when Microsoft does not have an exclusive deal? Interesting...... Oh, but wait, there's an iOS app available too, so it was NEVER exclusive. Please stop wasting our time with your complaining over nothing.

Bing maps and HERE are powered by the same data, so it's useless complaining about it. If you want features, tell Microsoft to make their apps better.

They'll never what? Add new features to Bing Maps? You really think Microsoft will never do that? Also, find me the evidence that they specifically said that they will never update HERE again. If they never said that, then this conversation is over.

Oh great, then you have a special version of HERE because you are the only one who has alternative routes with the HERE App for WP...
And thats just the BETA, Android users will have HERE features your 920 will NEVER EVER get !

They dont added one single big feature in almost two years to the HERE app and you guys still h*o*p*e that MS will n*o*w start pushing new features for the HERE app on Wp...HA !

According to the article you've linked to, "when you search for a place with HERE, you'll have the option to drive, walk, or take public transport to get there. You can adjust options to get the best route according to your taste. If you want to take a car, for instance, you can exclude toll roads and you get up to 3 different alternatives."

Although it is executed a little differently in WP, it's basically the same - fastest, shortest, balanced. Add/remove tunnels, bridges, ferries, toll roads, etc. If I want to drive to San Juan Capistrano (20 miles away from me), it gives me my choice of Interstate 5, Toll Road Rt 73, or Pacific Coast Hwy (the scenic route). I'll admit that when I want to go somewhere nearer, somewhere that I know is best accessed by surface streets, none of the alternatives suit me. My ideal navigator app would allow me to name multiple destinations and specific streets I wish to travel.

wp_ss_20140830_0001.png

If you select pedestrian (see the icons in the upper right corner), it will omit freeways were pedestrians are not permitted... If you select the bus, you'll see bus routes. With HERE Transit, I get the actual local bus schedules (sucky as public transportation is where I live). When I want to take surface streets only (which is often here in So Calif because I hate sitting on the freeways aka long parking lots), I select pedestrian.

wp_ss_20140830_0002.png

I get live traffic and an ETA that is accurate within 1 minute, even with road construction delays...

wp_ss_20140830_0007.png

And Here Maps not only features location based on category, I even get the interior maps of the malls and supermarkets near me (something added more recently than 2 years ago).

You might also want to check out the new HERE Explore app, which is still in beta. Believe it or not, they have it for Windows Phone!

HERE Explore Beta | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

So what is it now that Android is getting that I don't have?

And the Android version doesn't exist yet, so the Android version doesn't have more features because there isn't one. There is nothing to stop them from adding it "within the next few months" which is when the Tizen version will come out, which still won't mean that its available for Android. I'm still waiting for you to tell me where they said they won't be updating the WP version.

These kind of threads make me laugh and get angry at the same time.

You shouldn't just assume that WP will not get any support from Here. Android app isn't even out yet. I don't see any reason to panic. I don't even see how you can blame Microsoft for this.
