Muffled voice calls?

First off, let me start by saying im not complaining about the phone or anything like that.

Now, people have complained of my voice sounding muffled during a voice call, especially if i pry the phone between my face and shoulder. My question is, where is the microphone? I can't visibly see it on the outside and i just need a new way to hold it.

On a side note if I swap ears (from right to left) or if I swap to speakerphone, the problem goes away. Needless to say, im confused

On speaker I have seen this issue. My wife and I both have the lumia 900 and when she calls me and is on speaker o can tell because you can barely make out what she is saying. I think it's at te bottom and the noise cxl is the little dot on the top next to the audio jack.
