Music backup

Hello,

I have a question regarding music on our phones. I purchase music via the Windows Store through the phone as well as on the Internet (Download mp3 music online. Best music collection in a format mp3. Buy music albums.). It seems that music that is purchased outside the Windows Store is NOT backed up to the cloud.

How can I/we get around this? When restoring a backup or getting a new phone, it would be nice to have all music currently on my Lumia 1020 backed up instead of just ONLY the ones purchased through the Windows Store.

In order for the music you download on the internet to be cloud based in Windows and use it, you must have an Xbox Music Pass I believe.

Unfortunately, I do believe it is so. After doing a little research, I found out that music in the cloud is free to stream on your PC, but has to be a subscription service in order for one to transfer these songs to their phones.
