Music stopping playing in sleeping mode

Hi this is the first time I post anything on window forums
I just got my sp3 a week ago and I love it but there is some that annoys me
the music would stop playing when the screen go black, which is going to sleeping mode after several minutes when I am not using it.
No matter I what music player I am using, it is not gonna play any music in sleeping mode
So I am wondering do I really need to use the app in the appstore so that it will play in the sleeping mode...?
(I am using window media player and foobar 2000 to play the flac format music)

I think Windows by default stops media when the computer goes to sleep.

I would increase the sleep timeout, maybe, and try locking the tablet (via ctrl+alt+del or power+start combo) and see if it continues, but I dont know.

Yes, Metroapps will work fine!

Or search for the disable Monitor batchfile, then you can leave the Surface running, if you disabled the timeout in the energy settings.

now I found the solution! I download the app from the store but no the window desktop program and it works like charm
The one that I download is call music mode, it can play flac and it plays the music when I am in sleeping mode as well I am very happy now

I dont play FLAC files myself, but VLC for Windows 8 can play FLAC, also under the lockscreen. Its a very good app imo and I use it all the time, but not for music playing. I'm not sure how battery friendly VLC is, the desktop app is very resource hungry, so I use Xbox Music for playing my audio!

Yep... have this problem with iTunes... still linked to Apple with music. Any apps to handle that? Not a big deal for me, but I do hate changing the sleep mode timing just to listen to music.

Remember, FLAC (and ALAC) playback in that app is only free for the first month, then you need to pay for the Pro version.

You can also try MediaMonkey for music playback (including FLAC). No purchase for playback required. Video playback is a bit buggy since they haven't yet released the update they've been promising since 8.1 came out.
