I've had a Lumia 1020 for a while. I've been connecting it to a Win7 desktop to offload pictures at work, and I connect it to a Win8.1 desktop at home. Today, I plug in my 1020 to my Win7 machine and it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer. I reboot the machine, still won't show up. I go to devices and printers in control panel and I delete the driver, replug in my phone, and upon discovery, it's now trying to install a Lumia 909, which fails, BTW... So I can't offload picts to my Win7 box. I need to try it with my Win8.1 machine. This sucks.

My Lumia has the GDR3 / Black update, so maybe that borked it. Anyone else have ideas?

BTW, just to clarify. I know the Lumia 909 is aka the 1020...so I don't really care what it's called on my Win7 box. I just care because it USED to connect and now it doesn't. The driver USED to say Lumia 1020, but the 909 driver fails to install.

Have you tried restarting the phone?

A similar thing happened to me when I tried offloading 15 GB worth of photos (those DNG files are massive) on my flight back from my vacation and I **** a brick when the phone wouldn't show up except as 'MTP device' on my computer.

I had checked on the WP community forums and saw this suggestion as well...resetting the phone did the trick. Thanks bro!
