I've no idea what just happened. I charged it this morning (as usual) and about 4 hours later I hit the button to look at the time and....nothing. It was like the battery had totally drained.

I've plugged it in to charge but after 3 hours it's still on 0%. I can get it to partially reset when its plugged in but can't complete the action because both physical buttons have stopped working as well. And besides, the second I unplug it, it dies again.

This is weird. All I've done today is play Xbox and chill at home. No running, gym time, car washing, bear fighting, etc.....basically nothing that would damage the device.

It's like it had a mental breakdown and quietly committed digital suicide.

I'll get in touch with MS on Monday but obviously there's no guarantee they'll have a new device to send out.

Anyone else had this?

The issues I've seen on the forums have been overwhelmingly about strap breaking or battery life reducing dramatically over a few months. Yours is the first case I've seen of a total dead device

Have you tried a different charger? Just in case

Thanks Chintan, unfortunately I don't have a spare charger. I don't think the problem is with the charger. When I plug the Band in it comes to life, suggesting that the charger is still sending power to the device. The problem seems to be that the device isn't retaining any of that power.

The fact that the buttons have also stopped working just makes it doubly weird

then I would have to suspect some loose connections in the band :grincry:

Mine has been failing for a while in a different way: heart rate stopped working, then it started not powering on unless it was put on a charger (but oddly, the charge was always above 70% when it came back up...).

The good news is I just got an email today from my warranty repair (I sent it in last week before the cancellation was announced) and they have one for exchange on the way. So they have at least a few left and you may get lucky. ;)

The battery is contained in the "bump" on the bracelet where the skin sensors are.....the very fine wires between the battery and watch are molded into the strap.....they can break
