MY Klipsch Earphone Mic doesn't work with Lumia

Just purchased my Lumia 900 and it is everything, I hoped, except for one glaring issue. my $100.00 Klipsch S4 in-ear headphones w/ Phone Mic does not work with the phone. The caller on the other end does not hear me. It worked fine with my old Android.

Is this a glitch of just my phone or Has Nokia made other earphone brands incompatible to make a few extra bucks by making me buy a nokia phone/mic product?

My Klipsch ProMedia (similar to S4A with one button) microphone works with Lumia 710.

On a side note, double-clicking the mic button to skip to the next sound while the screen is off (say in your pocket) doesn't work like it did on my Palm Pre (webos) phone.
