My Next Windows Phone

The WPCentral writers have been doing a series of articles, My Next Windows phone, with phones such as the Lumia 920, 820, and even the rumored HTC 8X popping up. So my question is to you, what will your next Windows Phone be, and why?

For me, I'll probably settle on the Lumia 820. Don't get me wrong, the 920 is a nice device, but AWS support is a must have for me. I can't afford to spend $80 a month on a plan, so for me, WIND mobile is really my only option. Like T-Mobile, they offer budget oriented plans, with a relatively fast HSPA network that covers all of the city. However, also like T-Mobile, they're AWS 1700 MHz only, so the 920 is out of the question.

It would be nice to step up to the 920, that pureview camera is great, as a photographer it would be nice to have something compact that still pumps out quality images while on the go. I also prefer the 920's design, it's a little heavy, but size isn't too much of a concern to me.

Wireless charging is also a must-have, I'm a webOS user currently, and couldn't imaging switching over to another smartphone and having to plug it in. Once you go wireless, you'll never want to go back.

The Ativ S and the upcoming HTC devices should also promise to be nice handsets, but I'm not too sure if the 8X will be AWS compatible (let's hope, though!), and the Lumias' wireless charging is nice. I'll consider the 920 once I try it out and see what weight and heft are like, but right now I'm leaning towards the 820.

So, what will your next WP device be, and why?

When I first heard about the Pureview camera in the 808 I was in awe. Finally someone got it through their thick skull that more pixels on a sensor is not nescisarily the right way to go. Now the 808 used 41mp, but not to create grainy 41MP, 10MB file, but rather picking out the best 8MP of those 41. Best way to avoid noise and a great way to have digital zoom that made sense. Finally someone cared about the quality of those MP.

Now the 920's Pureview has a different aproach. It is not using the oversampling method like the 808, but it is still all about getting the best quality possible onto those 8(.7)MP. Larger aperture, image stabilization, back side powered sensor, and very good image processing algorithms.

The moment I heard that the 920 was getting this camera I was set. Wireless charging, NFC, 4G, super sensitive touchscreen, the 800's screen design as HD and all the goodies coming with WP8 was just icing on the cake (a lot of icing here)

So there it is, mainly because of the camera, but it is really the whole package. I mean, this sweetie has it all!

I will miss my 800, but im sure 920 will spoil me in so many ways that I will survive the heartache ;) (no "strings" attached)

For me there will be some things I will have to see from all the manufacturers before I make that decision. But at this point I will probably get the Samsung ATIV S. I like Samsung devices for the most part and have never had issues with any of their devices. I have actually held and played with the GSIII and it is a nice device and think with it running a better OS it will be even better. The main things I like are the look, weight, removable battery and SD support.

However, if Windows Phone 8 doesn't allow you to mount the phone as a drive, so I can sync what I want and how I want, then having removable storage may not be as big a deal. Also, I'll be interested to see what "features" they will each have. Just the customization features that all might bake into them.

Nokia has some cool features as well and there are moments that the 920 actually seems like it is just calling my name with the features it has.

920. Pureview OIS with Rich Recording=recording decent quality music videos on my phone. As an aspiring indie artist, this is win all over.

As a side note, I've really been enjoying the series.

Verizon is first requirement. We only deploy Verizon devices here so this is my only choice unless I want to BYOD and pay for it myself.. no thanks, I'm cheap.

It's gonna be the first "flagship" phone Verizon offers. I won't way for a Nokia 92x. I have 30 days I guess so I'll start out with an HTC or Sammy. Maybe even leaning towards an HTC since my last two Sammy phones have had poor signal (Galaxy Nexus.. horrible, horrible singal, and Galaxy S3.. not bad signal, but could be better.)

I can't fricken wait.. I've never been this excited for anything before... (marriage and kids excluded of course...haha)
