my nokia lumia 1320 is taking forever to reset why?

i srarted reset the ohone at 8.45am and its almost 4.30pm till myy phone has not on it is stil showing the running gears
why?

give it a few more hours and if it still shows on that stage, try a soft reset (pressing volume down and power buttons until the phone vibrates and restarts)
