Navigation bar lights always stay lit. Bug?

Navigation lights do auto turn off after a short period of inactivity on my Lumi 1020, 1520.

How many seconds after not touching the screen do the capacitive lights turn off? Are you on Denim? Why is it for most the lights do not turn off and for some they do? Why such inconsistencies? We must solve this puzzle.

they do not auto-turn off after a timeout.

not themselves.

the behavior is tied to the display and idle timeout. eventually the display dims, shortly before turning off - and when the display dims, the buttons turn off.

Here is a temporary fix. If you want to read in bed or want to watch a film (eg Netflix) in the dark and do not want the bright navigation bar lights annoying you, go into Battery Saver settings and turn on "Now until next charge" to turn off the lights. Remember to revert back the setting when done, if you want.
