Need Help after using Seven-Eighter on HTC TITAN -- Apps won't open

:winktongue: This list of cabs and the cabsender fixed my Titan II when seveneighter had almost screwed it up. I had pretty much given up, even after a restore back to Mango the wifi setting, messages and loads of other features didn't work.

I also have an unbranded HD7 would it be possible to provide a similar list of cabs to download to upgrade that to 7.8? I have tried seveneighter with that and now the lock+wallpaper wont open or about - there may be other things that don't work.

By the way - is there a fix for the marketplace when you choose related apps and it crashes out?

I have pretty much the same problem as Bearach did (but US english should be my default), but am still unable to solve it.
I think that maybe I don't know if certain updates within each group (mango group updates, tango group, 7.8 group) need to go together & with what language packs. For example, from tango to 7.8 are 3 updates, but 4 files + 2 of each language file... what files get run in the batch together?
I've tried a bunch of ways, and have tried just english, just the 5 default languages I SHOULD have picked when I first used 78er, and tried installing ALL the languages (which was probably a major screw up that I can't figure out how to rectify). I've tried soft & hard resets, and I've read pretty much every post I can find on the subject here & in xda with no luck.
My phone (focus) works, with the exception of all non OS included apps, which all immediately crash.
I could revert back to tango (the official update thru zune), but the app problem persisted. After I reverted, I could use 78er again, but it does not let me tick off any language boxes.

Any help?
is there a way to remove installed language packs?
Can I load a Rom (either the original official for focus 1.4, or to one that has 7.8 already on it?), & if so, how do I do that?
I'm plain out of ideas, and too broke to buy a new phone (I can offer a new replacement battery for a Focus S though, since I got the wrong one with my order!)

Hi sppc42 and bearach, I've also used seven eighter on my htc radar (on mango/tango, I'm not sure) and I also forgot to click the languages so sms, about at settings, etc. don't work now even thought it's already 7.8 (I can resize the tiles very small). I tried sending them all in one step (all updates in nodo including languages (us and uk only), for ex. all items 1 to 8 below in 1 sending), but after sending, installing, updating and rebooting, it displays an error saying "there are no applicable updates". I continue installing to in mango, then it displays the same error. Then on tango, error again, and on 7.8, error again. At the end, I can't still open my sms, about at settings, etc. I even send the 3 firmware updates for my HTC radar.

Shall I download and install all languages? I remember before updating, my phone has several languages (10++?), and I forget the default (US or UK English). By the way, when I will install the available firmware for HTC radar (3 of them)? Thank you.

Well, fixed it myself!! :smile:

Here is what I found was the issue and resolution:
Issue: When using Seven Eighter to directly update the cabs, I started of impatiently and just selected English(US) for the language pack and went ahead with the update. Update was successful but lots of apps/tiles stopped to work. My Zune backup was screwed so nothing to revert back to. In short - phone was toast! I even tried sending the language packs for English(UK) and other installed languages on my phone separately, but all kept failing.
Resolution: Got a hint from a mention by HeathCliff74 on XDA dev forums. The gist is, just like the updater updates the phone's OS files, it needs to sync-update the language files too, else they mismatch and when the new OS tries to load new language files, it fails, causing the apps to misbehave. So, to fix it, I had to update ALL the versions of the the English(UK) - the default language - on my phone. I started right away from NODO update for English(UK), the update resulted in message that it is already installed. Then I moved to Mango version of English(UK) and that installed fine! So that was the missing link for me. Then Adding 8112 and 8558 updates for Tango and beyond for English(UK), they all installed fine. Please NOTE that I had to be patient, installing these updates one at a time. And the patience paid off, my phone is back up and running!! :smile:

PLEASE NOTE: I can *confirm* that one needs the language pack files of *just* their default language, *unless* they plan to change the Display language/keyboard settings on their phone to some other language. So, as in my case, I just need English(UK) and just updated those files and everything works fine for me now.

People in this thread seem to know what they're doing, so before making any mistakes, I ask for your advice on updating my Windows Phone using the Seven-Eighter tool.

My questions are:
1. How do I know if I have other languages installed?
2. What is the easiest way to update my phone to WP7.8?

I have read through the post and hopefully you can help me with my problem. Just a heads up I have never done any hacks or anything on my phone apart from running this Seven-Eighter tool so have no experience in this area.
I have the exact same problem. I believe I am now on version 7.8 (I have the blue background on startup) but now I cannot use SMS/WIFI settings/About/Keyboard and several other functions on my Phone.
I have a UK HTC Radar, the last update I did via Zune was the latest one you could get from Zune, I believe it was 7.7 something.
I then used the Seven-Eighter tool and ran through the update and just selected English/US in the languages (I stupidly didnt even see English UK and did not know what other languages to install) It updated about 5 times to 8862 in total and took about an hour.

In my Display Language i have it set to English but have the options for including two extra with letters which cannot be input on my keyboard beginning with E and P

Unfortunately, the restore feature in Zune only takes you one update back. When you update your phone through Zune, you don't realize this because it only backs up your data when the first update is installed (if more than one update is found and gets installed). That is why you can go from, for example, build 8858 back to build 8773 even though it installed multiple updates.

My suggestion is this: use the restore feature in Zune to go back 1 os update. Then, if you can remember which languages were put on the device to begin with, run my version of Seven-Eighter and select all the languages which were on the device to begin with (my version tells you how to check which language packs are on your device).

Thanks for the reply (if that was for me) but I cannot backdate in Zune, it shows that I am up to date with version 8862 and gives me no option to rollback.
Also if i follow the steps to rollback via holding the Camera button, this does not seem to work either. IS there another way to rollback?

Just a big thanks to sppc42's post, this worked like a charm. If it helps any other people I followed his post and link and just installed the Update Cabs and my main Default Language pack (English UK) and then added them into the Update Cab Sender one by one until it started to work.

Hello.

It seems that i have the same problem (i have Trophy aka Spark with german Vodafone) . I've even tried to repair it with a help of official HTC service, but they said it's a motherboard and wanted 200$ for repair. Of course I said no and now i see it was a good decision,as it has nothing to do with that. I'm trying to help myself with Cab Sender but i don't know which files i shoud install and i don't want to screw something again. After my telephone crushed with SevenEighter, i have made a recovery and soft reset to the previous version (as we know it doesn't help) and now i suppose i have this Tango (Zune want to instal wersion 7.10 but i don't remember which exactly).
When updating with SevenEighter i might have chosen both: Polish or enlish (US) which i don't have on my phone. My question is, should I install Cab Files(for my version of WP):

-for those primary languages i had at first with NoDo
or for those languages i have updated (polish, US english)?

I would be grateful for answer and i see some helpful people in here
