Need to unlock AT&T phone for Cricket?

So, it looks like I'm going to be switching from AT&T to Cricket in the near future. Big thanks to RumoredNow and pankaj981 for the suggestion. Anyway, until I can get an unlocked 950XL I will be using my 1520. Do I need to get my 1520 unlocked or will the Cricket SIM work as-is? Getting it unlocked is no problem since I have no obligation to AT&T, but I just wanted to know beforehand. Thanks in advance.

Should pop in and work. That's my understanding. But if its no hassle, why not just have ATT unlock it? I'd test the theory but I don't have the ATT version. Have the 1520.3 and it works on tmo too.

Thanks for the info.

I will probably unlock them regardless, I was just wondering if it had to be done before I ordered the Cricket SIMs. I am planning on ordering them on Friday, and I'm not sure how long the process takes. I've never unlocked a phone before

AT&T branded devices will work on Cricket without an unlock... Order the SIM and then get the unlock code, it comes pretty fast.

Your Cricket SIM will not trigger an unlock request so you will have to do it manually by dialing ##7280# and inputting the number on the carrier lock status screen which appears.

Both phones are unlocked with Cricket sims in them. Just an aside, the code is ##7820#. Took me a little digging to find out why it wasn't working. Thanks for the heads up though. Now to see if there is any way to get visual voicemail working.

My ATT 920 activated fine with a Cricket SIM prior to being unlocked, 5 Gamestop visits later. Another story.

If you crack the VVM debacle please share!

On your PC in browser sign up for YouMail, download the ISeeVM app on your phone. Configure and done.

Visual Voice mail that goes from phone to phone, carrier to carrier and even fills in when the carrier does not offer VVM or the native VVM in WP is balking.

Will do. I used to use YouMail back when I had a Palm Pre+. The one problem I had with it was that the voicemails played through the speaker instead of the earpiece. Is that an issue with ISeeVM?

EDIT: Checked it myself. Works great! It has been 1,284 days since I last used YouMail.

Signed up, downloaded, configured, doesn't work for me. Using an AT&T Lumia 640 GoPhone on Cricket. Cricket customer service is useless thus far. They can't seem to understand what I'm talking about. It's not part of their script, and it is difficult finding someone who can assist me.

Just got off the phone with Cricket, and the rep could not help me with Conditional Call Forwarding or changing the voice mail number. Supervisor is no help either.

Is there a registry edit that can be done? Changing the "voicemail number" in settings isn't getting the job done either. I think, like the hotspot, there is something in the registry that has it disabled on my phone.

Well mine isn't working right now.

I cross tested it with TrueCaller to help someone in the Idol 4 S forum and TrueCaller truly borked it. Have to Factory Reset my phone and restore from an earlier date.

Do you think TrueCaller causes conflicts? I still had TrueCaller set up when I was trying to get the voicemail forwarded to YouMail. I had signed up online, and before downloading the app I had tried to change it.

Perhaps I should uninstall TrueCaller, or do a factory reset without restore, put my stuff back without TrueCaller, and try it that way. Yeah, like I'm going to that much trouble right now. Maybe after Christmas.

I'm getting the OCN error, which means it's on Cricket's end. They are no help resolving it, as they don't understand what it means even when I explain it in a manner that my 6 year old can understand. :|
