New build 10586.71 Anyone take it? Feedback?

Working great.
Had a random reboot on trying to wake my phone, but that's the only "serious" issue.
Slight graphical glitch when pulling up / down the navigation bar on the start screen.
Haven't come across the excessive data usage bug yet, so fingers crossed.
Also is running well on my 640.
On both phones it's noticeably faster; definitely the way it should be (scrolling, animations for opening and closing).
5GHz is running fine.
Also going to agree with Jackson Ombati, the PDF viewing is nice now.

Good
  • For me the battery life is much better - I'm getting a 4% overnight drain (around 8-10 hours) and, yesterday, I took it into work and left work with about 70% battery which is pretty good with all the 'new phone' messing around I am doing.
  • Seems slightly faster for me / slightly smoother
  • Everything seems to work what I am using (apart from the below)

Bad
  • I am still getting a lot of resuming when receiving messages from WhatsApp and, for me, the bug whereby it takes an age to show notifications for WhatsApp / Messenger is back.
  • WhatsApp typing lag

Not a comprehensive list I grant you. If I think of more I'll update it.

Really? On .29 and I have turn by turn prompts on my 2013 buick enclave, and various rental cars (toyota, mazda, ford)... actually I'm driving a ford fiesta this week and noticed I didn't get prompt but I'm not sure yet if it's something funny I set up with this car. It was in a different lang for starters :D

In previous builds, the guide would speak but in syllables like someone is pushing the Pause/Play button repetitively. Its annoying. Now the music just fades out then nothing can be heard until the music resumes. I'm not sure if Driving Mode has something to do with it.

Updated last night, and have only noticed a couple things:
- Phone seemed to charge much faster
- Alarms are not working during quiet hours anymore, so I got up half hour late :-(

I didn't have issues with my alarm before the update(.63), I now have had 2 days in a row where it didn't go off. Or, it went off when i unlocked the screen.

I've got quiet hours ending 15 min after my alarm. This which worked fine before to address the "all notifications you received overnight will go off when quiet hours ends"

I've changed my ending quiet hours to 2 min before my alarm and i'll see how that goes.

My battery life started getting better after the fast configuration update and I can't figure out if it was that, or me turning off hey cortana (never use it).

Hi!
I see a lot of happy campers here after update!
I'm very happy with my 1520 on W8.1 today, because I got 950XL on the first day of sale and after 4 days of problems had to return it and roll back.

Few questions to happy users of updated 950XL:
Is it possible to have "aloud read SMS messages thru Bluetooth" without enable Cortana?
Is it possible to have separate notification sound for different email accounts?
For how long you can run GPS on the phone without connect it to the charger?
Is it possible to activate 950XL on Verizon network?
Does phone still act as a "coffee warmer" on the wireless charging dock?

Thank you!

The Lumia 950 / 950 XL does not work with Verizon. The relationship between these 2 companies is bad, that Microsoft purposefully disabled Verizon frequencies.
I don't have have Verizon where I am, as I am in Canada not U.S, but from what I read, Verizon gave nothing more than a horrible experience to Windows Phone users. So I am not sure you even want to be with them, if you could. You'll just end up hatting your phone.

Thank you!
I'm not on VZ, but have active SIM card from them and thought to use it in the future as a second service on 950XL if all previously listed problems solved. I had no problems using Cricket on the 950XL.

I *still* don't have this alarm bug. It's been around since about 4-5 builds but all of them have been flawless for me as far as alarm goes. I always sleep hoping, I will wake up late and have an excuse for work, but nope.

Oh that's not good if they broke it in insider builds!

I download every new update, I have never had any of the problems that a lot of you have had, A few glitches here and there nothing to bad, No reboots, No Battery drain, No problems with Drive or Groove, The biggest was a few builds back, the screen would sometimes freeze during a phone call, has since been fixed, I love Windows 10 on my M8.

Well it may work better on your M8 than the 950XL.

These posts are specifically for that phone - do you have a 950XL as well?

I've not had some of the bugs but I certainly have had a fair few.

For the first time since I run WP10 'data usage' is working in .71 on my L640 dual sim! Some apps wouldn't restore, but soft reset fixed that. Don't need to scan the SD anymore after startup or soft reset. Overall I'm happy with his version!

I keep around an older device to run the insider previews on and I got this build the moment the notification came in the insider hub from my PC. The upgrade experience went smooth, I didn't have to try to find the update multiple times as before; no restart or forcing Windows Insider app to check for me.

I waited a bit before posting to see if it was working ok. I noticed slower battery drain (almost immediately in my case). As soon as it was done I played some streaming music for ~90 minutes which would usually take me to around 50% battery, this time it was in the mid 80s. For me WiFi is slow after a reboot but after that everything is awesome (sorry - I just couldn't resist). One issue I had with the prior builds is that after a restart, crash, battery outage or soft reset, the notification center wouldn't show any notifications until I went to settings - then toggled the show notifications while phone is locked setting on and off. I always keep notifications off my lock screen. That is now gone it seems.

Feedback of the lastest build on my L520:

-Speed decreased, so many Loading screens.
-Some apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger load slowly.
-Improved battery performance.
-Edge runs fine.
-I have some strange issue with the Lock Screen, slide and no response sometimes, weird.

In general: Very Good.

Hey There,

it is interesting, for me the main thing and the first I noticed is that the Whatsapp APP no matter what I do starts immediately, no resume no loading.. and no lag.

I am also on the latest update.

So far i have only one problem..when the phone is locked sometimes i cant wake it up by pressing power button i need to take out the battery and start the phone.

One issue I've just found is that the Settings screen crashes. Eventually it goes back to the Start screen and then you can get into it. Annoying more than anything else.
