New intel drivers have an increase in performance

I got a Surface Pro 2, and I have the same problem as Berfles.
It installs version 10. And that bugs me, as the Intel drivers are very buggy. Honestly, I think Intel graphic solution ruins the Surface Pro line. While they did get better, they are still too buggy. And i don't mean: game performance, or game crashes.. I am not even there yet. Anyway,

When I tried to install them on the Pro 2 (as it's the same hardware as the Pro 3 - Core i5 U4300), I already had the firmware update set to hidden, as I use Intel drivers instead of the ones provided by Microsoft to fix some of the many bugs and issues. So it's not that Windows update replaces them. For proof. Windows update drivers removes the Intel control panel. I still have it. It's just the Intel drivers installs version 10 and not 15.

I used these instructions and got it installed, but it was a different version number than it was supposed to be (supposed to be 15.36.3.64.3907, I had 10.18.10.3907). I had it check automatically for updates online for the heck of it and it then downloaded drivers from 3/17/14 and installed them again.

Never mind, if you have 10.18.10.3907 then you did the upgrade correctly.

At the bottom of the Intel Page it shows that its the same.

Your in the clear, you performed the update correctly, 10/15 are the same. It's actually 15.36.3.64.3907 (10.18.10.3907).

The one thing I liked about updating to the Intel drivers, is now I have the "Intel HD Graphic" settings in the control panel now where I can tweak the "Power saving technology" to either increase battery performance, or go for graphics performance.

I don't have the Intel HD 5000 instead mine says Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, and it says it is up to date.

I have an i5 128 gig Pro 3

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Does feel quicker after update.

Also noticed Intel app on the notification taskbar, which I set the power options to maximize battery. The unit lasts longer on battery now.

Updated on an i7 256gb model.

Mine shows the "HD 5000", but also shows the driver version as 10.18.10.3496 (07/03/2014), if you click 'update driver' and auto-find, then yes, it will say it's up to date.

You need to manually update the driver using the instructions on the first page.
It's crazy you need to download a 127MB file just for a 262kb file!

I've only had my i7/256 for 2 days so I'm not really going to see the difference, but I'm updating anyway :D

eta... ok done "10.18.10.3907" (05/08/2014).
It also reinstalled 2 audio drivers?! which was rather odd.

Don't forget to go into the "Intel HD Graphics" control panel and adjust the power level settings. It stays at the default level of the OS when it's installed.
