New Verizon phone possibly.

I just got off the phone with best buy and the rep. Said that the HTC Tophy is discontinued or being discontinued, and she said some off hand comment about being replaced. What do you guys think?

I could see them getting a variant of the Titan II. I just left them for the Lumia 900 on AT&T. A lot better data rates.

Not the cost of the data, the actual speeds are better. I was also on unlimited data and was still on an Alltel plan. It was hard to give up but now my data actually works. Verizon was too slow for me after they got the iPhone. I could no longer use Pandora. Having Pandora on my drive to work once again is awesome.

I swapped from Verizon to att for the lumia, I didn't sign a contract so I'm just waitin until vzw gets something similar to the titan 2 or lumia and will swap back

I doubt anything is coming before WP8. We are a big Verizon customer and we had a roadmap session with them around November/December and one of their slides was a Nokia WP device. They called it the Phoenix. It looked pretty much like the 700 Lumia and it was supposed to come out around January. I am assuming, obviously, that this was the device that got canceled.

WinPho8 is just too close for you to see anything. I hope I'm wrong.

Let me throw this out there, and I'm no expert when it comes to this stuff so I am just guessing, but part of the struggle with Verizon could very well be the number of radios in devices. To this very day, there is not one single device on Verizon that is CMDA & LTE and global GSM. Not a single one. Sure the Droid 4 and the LG Revolution have the radios in them for global GSM, but they are just sitting there doing nothing until an update comes out to activate them.

It's a lot easier for AT&T devices becaue they don't have to care about CDMA one bit. Maybe it is not worth them trying to create a device that just does CMDA and LTE, sans GSM on WP7 when WP8 is so close? Especially if that device wouldn't be upgradable to WP8 (we don't know the hardware requirements for it yet, maybe dual core will be a minimum requirement??) Something to think about anyway.

But all you needed to do was wait and get a 4g device.

I tend to not believe the person at Best Buy. I went in the other day and the girl didn't even know what the Lumia was, I had to point at their display for her to go, "Oh."

If something was coming soon for Verizon then we would've heard about it by now. We won't be seeing anything new until Apollo.

After hearing all the rumors for months and months and hearing this person say one thing and another person say something else. I think the only thing we know for fact is that we won't know anything until JUST prior to a new device and any speculation about what and when is just that, speculation.
