News application

Hello guys, I'm trying my first steps as a developer using Visual Studio, and I wanted to create a "news application" lets say I want to put data from a website to the application (using RSS, i guess). But since I'm a newbie, can anybody help me with some tips for how to do this, where to start, or a guide of "How ti copy" Windows central?
