Hello Geo
Is the subject of this conversation still relevant? And above all, what is the solution proposed by you during the first post still valid today?
If this is no longer the case, a solution to find for the fan to stop scolding and that the Surface Pro 3 (me in i5) does not overheat anymore?
Thank you in advance for your answer and excuse me for my english

A Few years ago, i wrote an article about Surface Pro 3 undervolting and efficiency.

So the efficiency is NOT the best at low clocks! Most of your work will be done at a medium clockrate. My conlcusion was that the non turbo clockrate was the most efficient one (so better use the I3 those times).

To get rid of the cooling noise, the best option is to limit the TDP and not the clock. When you limit the "long time TDP" to arround 5W, you get a high boost clock for short moments and a silent surface Pro.
Unfortionally you need to use Throttlestop in order to do this.

Hey guys, Reading this thread was super informative. thanks!!

I'm wondering how this affects the new 2017 model. (i7) does it help battery life? is it a good idea? will it help the device last longer in general? (i mean months, years of use. i use it currently for photoshop cc and would be pretty upset if how hot it currently gets would make the screen or battery fail within a year or two...)

im confused that im not seeing more people talk about this still?

thanks for any responses!
