No System Sounds on Standby?

Just picked up a dvp8 at Costco.

I have a Surface 2 and I get email notification sounds when it is in Standby (ie. screen is off and email sounds still occur).

This hasn't been occurring on the dvp8 and I can't seem to find a way to get it working.

Anyone?

As an aside my Surface has been pretty much idle since getting the dvp8.

Check your Account settings on the Venue and make sure you have the appropriate setting for receiving notifications.

In the email settings I have it set to receive notifications.
Happens properly when using the tablet but not in standby.

That's odd. You're not talking about Permissions, right? I have Permissions on and notifications on under Account in Settings.

Ah, ok. Yeah, it doesn't seem to work after the device has been on standby for a while.

EDIT: Well, I received a notification after my device was on standby for several hours. Hm...
