Does the Lumia Cyan fw on 630 solve the postprocessing camera bug ?

(this issue was born with Amber fw and we have it also on Black fw on all Lumia devices)

I just got the dual sim 630, if you can describe what you want me to try I'll gladly give it a bash....

For the test, install nokia camera, open it and in the configuration enable the preview mode, then shot a photo and see the photo on the screen before and after some seconds (the image before is without the postprocessing, the same after is when the postprocessing applied)

In Amber and Black fw, the image after the postprocessing has the wb mistaked (the white become yellowish/greenish) and the sharpness became to soft.

OK, did what you asked. There is clearly some post-processing going on, the image is 'tidied', seems to be some anti-aliasing or similar effect going on. The resultant image is not 'blurred' but the refining of hard edges is noticeable. There is no apparent colour effect to me, tried with bright white backgrounds and a few assorted colours.

Resultant shot when viewed in the photo library matches the preview shot, also, the same shot taken with microsoft camera is also identical to the preview and final shot from Nokia cam, so whatever prepossessing is taking place seems to be at a fairly low level (ie the camera API, rather than the software used to take the shot). For a 5MP cam, the picture is very good in my view, but I am no camera buff!

Hope this helps, if you would like me to try anything else, feel free to ask. There is a distinct lack of information on the 630, so I will do what I can.

Nick.

the image comparison should be between the same image taked with nokia camera before and after the postprocessing process like I explained in the post before.

Please, post your image before and after post processing (the two pictures should be taked from Nokia Camera with the Nokia Lumia screenshot function button [Start] + button [Power])

Thanks a lot for your tests, if is confirmed that the postprocessing issue is solved this is a GREAT news for all Nokia Lumia users ;-)

Here you go, the first screenshot is immediately after taking the shot, the second if after the preview is shown.

Sorry if the quality is poor, steady hands, indoor lighting etc. I can try again after work when I have a bit more time :)

Thanks, I'm very interested to see other images :-)

If you have any other Lumia device which is not running cyan compare the post-processing with it. Do you know anyone with 520 or any other Lumia variant with 5mp camera (525, 620, 625, 1320) the camera module has not changed so it's a fair comparison. Please carryout this test for us as this is a deal breaker for me. I own 925 and I'm very displeased with the camera quality after black, I'm due for an upgrade soon so I need to know if I should invest in Lumia line or not.

From the fist image of NHUK (thanks a lot) we can see that the postprocessing in Lumia Cyan is working differently respect Amber/Black fw: in this case the sharpness is up (and not down like in Amber/Black fw), the wb change only a few and without the
yellowish/greenish mask (in Amber/Black fw the wb is changed a lot with a yellowish/greensh (very) wrong effect). Only the contrast is substantially modified by the postprocessing.
I'm waiting for new photos to understand well if all of these impressions are confirmed ;-)

I would agree with your summary here. Unfortunately my old 620 is already packed up ready to sell, so no comparisons possible. I am also going on holiday tomorrow for a week so further pics may be an issue. On the other hand, if there is free WiFi in the hotel,I will have the opportunity to take some good light pictures to post.

Nick.

I was under the impression that the preview is deliberately reduced in res for easier image editing and display on your phone.

Please,
someone with a 630 can send more images before and after postprocessing to make more comparisons.

Thanks
