Nokia Lumia 3G--how do I turn it off?

Hi,
My Nokia Lumia 710 doesn't have a data plan, but when I was looking through the settings, specifically with Windows Live ID I must have clicked on something and now the 3G icon is showing in the top left corner of my screen.

My question is - how can I get rid of this icon? I don't have a data plan and I don't want to get additional charges.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Isnt there a Data Connection setting in Cellular &SIM menu in the settings?

That's what I've been looking for as well. I've looked up my problem and all the sources seem to be saying to use "Mobile Network" or "Cellular" or "Data connection" under Settings, but my phone doesn't seem to have that for some reason.

Just tried that Laura. . . the problem is that when I turn it off again the icon returns.

Go to settings -> cellular +data settngs .then turn off data connection.
