Nokia to fans of smaller screens:Drop dead!

I don't see how they can even know people don't want a higher end 4" phone if they don't even make one. I know I'd buy one and multiple people I know like them that size (anecdotal, I know, but still). If they could just make a 4" 720P screen with a quality camera and a solid processor then I'd be happy.

Many people have small hands (women?!) and dont want to have big fat phones in their pocket (skinny jeans?!). Just an example...

And the 620 really got the perfect size for MANY people. 3,8"/4" ist perfect, even for me. I dont need a huge thing in my jeans (there?s already another huge thing, thats enough).

I hope they make a good 4" phone next year!

They're completely missing out on that iPhones still sell in much higher quantities than Lumias, and no matter what iPhone option you choose you get top performance in a compact form factor. Nokia are light years behind mastering this, but are catching up with the trends of other manufacturers.

Lol. That was one of the more amusing theories I've heard about why iPhones are better than Lumias. People buy iPhones because they are Apple zombies. That's it. I remember the iPhone 4s selling for $199 when Lumia 900s were being given away for free. The iphone 4s didn't even have LTE, yet it sold millions more than the free Lumia 900. So by your logic in addition to a small screen Lumias should also have eliminated LTE. I sat there whizzing through web pages on my Lumia 900 while my girlfriend didn't even bother using her mobile internet because it was so slow. Best part was watching streaming netflix while in traffic on the I-95 corridor. My girlfriend couldn't believe what she was seeing. Crystal clear sharp streaming video on a nice size screen while cruising down the highway at 50 mph. I was like you can have this or you can pay $199 and get an iphone. Millions decided to get the iphone!

nokia needs to take a hint from samsung and shrink the bezel substantially.

The problem with Samsung is their build quality is terrible. The Galaxy Note series has some of the cheapest build quality of a phone in that price range. I remeber picking up a Note II in a store once and the back half popped off because it had one of those anti theft devices attached. The weight of the antitheft device and the tension on the cord were enough to pop half the back off. I just don't think you get Nokia build quality and Samsung size/weight. My Lumia 900 is pristine and my only complaint is the terrible micro USB port that is really flaky now and that is probably just due to the nature of micro USB ports. Can't wait for wireless charging so my microUSB port doesn't have to be used as much. A wireless charging Nokia seems like it could last for 5+ years.

True. As much as I loved i717 note, I felt like I was carrying the most fragile thing in the world...my little 521 as small as it is, I feel like it can take a drop or two. Or a dozen for that matter. Nokia has ALWAYS made phones I don't feel afraid of dropping. Do I wish I had a bigger screen? Somewhat yes. Which is why I'm going to get a 1020 or a 925 eventually.

haha soon not even iPhones will be small, on of the rumors for the,iPhone 6 is a 5 inch display
WHats sad is that when the iPhone comes out with larger screen phones, everyone will be raving for it even more than they are now.

Personally comparing the android minis and their specs to windows phone is not exactly the same thing.

I personally can't see how anyone thinks the Lumia 92x range is large at all though. To each their own.

I've always liked the idea of a larger phone, and I have a craving for the Lumia 1520 (which sadly is not on T-Mobile). My friend said to me over two years ago that my first smartphone, the LG Thrill 4G, was way too big for me with a 4.3 in screen. He had a Mytouch 4g, a 3.8 in screen. Now he is using a Note 3 and he loves it. I don't think you can say a phone is too big without using it for at least a week. Overall, I feel the experience of a larger phone is much better than those with approximately 4" screens. I love my 521, but I also use a Nexus 4, for two reasons. One, the 521 is way too small for me, especially when typing text messages. Two, although the 521 has Wi-Fi calling, the Nexus 4 (unofficially) has LTE and gets better reception in my house. Wi-Fi calling would be sufficient if it was possible to send or receive multimedia messages. I don't think I could ever get another phone that has a screen smaller than 4 inches. All I'm waiting for is a new Lumia to come to T-Mobile and to have enough money to afford one. I personally think the Lumia 925 is overpriced on T-Mobile at 500 dollars, considering the 1520 is 550 off contract at the Microsoft Store, and the 925 is almost 100 dollars cheaper on AT&T.

I saw the 1520 in person for the first time today...goodness that phone is comically big. The 920 is about as big as I can go and still use almost the whole screen one handed. I have to be able to use a phone one handed. Nokia nor MS have done anything to make bigger screens easier to use one-handed from a software perspective.

I am not buying another flagship Nokia/MS phone if 5" or bigger is the only way to get it. This has already been said, but here is what I want: 920 update with 1080p 4.5" screen, smaller bezels, thinner, same camera, wireless charging (Qi), 2gb RAM, 32gb storage, and Snapdragon 800. It could be a decent percentage smaller than the current 920 while getting a solid update and not losing screen size. I would be willing to live with a 720p screen at this size to allow for a smaller battery.

I'm sorry, but you're just dead wrong on why people keep iPhones and on why people are still moving to iOS for their second iPhone. Name an app on all three platforms -or as is still often the case on iOS or Android, and the most polished and most feature rich is on iOS an overwhelming percent of the time, that's the first reason. Their camera in a 4" chassis is consistently top-tier, there is a second. I like iOS, I like WP, but lets stay real.

Well, how do you think companies(not limited to WP8, Android and iOS too) are going to be able to fit their awesome new features into a super tiny phone? Idk, about your hand size but a lot of the WP8 phone seem perfect size within the 500-1000 phone area(talking Nokia and went to 100 to exclude 1020 and 1520). The phablets do seem uncomfortable and me personally I don't exactly like a device with square edges unless it is like an iPhone(which is why I got the 822 because it is roundish), but I'm just curious to know your thoughts.
