Holy crap, I didn't realize Nokia was going that all-out.
Yeah they are! Well they already have Carl Zeiss in a couple of their Symbian devices and they already said they want to innovate with hardware so you can bet that Nokia will be the first manufacturer with a kickass camera and a dual-core processor.
Just wait TC. 4G phones will be coming.
I'm really hoping Nokia either releases pentaband 4G devices or at least makes a T-Mobile 4G compatible device.
Hmm, ya I guess I'll just wait. Waiting sucks so bad though lol. I guess I'll do that, I'll grab a cheap focus and wait until october. So is the focus a pretty good phone? Also, how sure are you guys that nokia will have stuff this year? All these sites are saying different things. If @Luisraul924 is right, I will jump on that. I would love to have a camera that good in my phone.
Yeah and even if you end up having to wait until Q1 2012 for good Nokia hardware (I doubt first launch would be groundbreaking) the focus would still hold you through with the mango update in October. I honestly think it's gonna be like getting an entirely new device.
When you get one off ebay/craigslist make the seller open up the case and look under the battery. If it says "rev 1.4" don't buy it. For some reason, this batch has had update issues and still doesn't have the NoDo update.
This one is very crucial you don't wanna stay stuck with a device that gets updates last because of stupid memory issues boy did Samsung **** up on that one.

Yes, and Samsung is being very slow updating the firmware for NoDo for these phones.

Lame. I guess they think users don't like updates? I forgot how long it took them and at&t to release WinMo 6 for my old BlackJack.

Yah Samsung makes great components, hardware, and phones, but they really need to take their updating and other software / consumer areas more seriously (like the OEM applications, of which they have the worst ones). They are notorious for horrible updating.

I am sure MS had a few words with them in recent months since Samsung single handedly botched the first major update, and they will want future updates to go more on the 'as planned' route.

So wait does the focus not have the most recent os update?

Most of them do. Mine does. There was one batch Samsung made with a different chipset from the previous batches which is labeled on the phone under the battery as "Rev 1.4". This one is still waiting for the NoDo update (Samsung has to write a different firmware update for this chipset, and is taking forever).

As long as you get anything but rev 1.4 you are good. So just make sure if you buy one off ebay/craigslist you have the seller confirm it is NOT rev 1.4.

I have bought 3 off ebay, and none were 1.4.

Ok so I just have to have them check it's not a rev 1.4 and I'm good? Thanks for all the replies and help guys!

Yup. Chances are you won't come across one, but have them double check for you so you don't end up with one that has the current update issues.

How do you get to the battery setting's page? I want to know how to ask the seller. :)

No problem! So you decided on the focus huh? Good choice have fun with WP7!

Thanks :). Also what do you guys think is a good price for a focus? I'm looking on ebay, and to be honest I want one in good condition. I know it's a older phone, and I really don't want to spend a lot, but I don't think it makes much sense to buy something and have it arrive with scratches. So like what would be a good price for one in good condition? I'm looking to spend around $230..hopefully less. lol.

It isn't in the software prtion of the phone. Take off the back cover and then take out the battery. Under the battery is all the phone information and on there it should state whether it is REV. 1.3 or 1.4. Ask the seller to take a picture of it if you can. If you still aren't sure then post the picture on here and ask us :D

I would try and gett one for $200 or less. I have seen a few go for around $100 on craiglist as well. It pays to look at multiple places to make sure you are getting the best deal. Keep in mind that it has been 6+ months since the device was released so it about halfway through its life cycle.

Thanks man that really helps. I tried craigslist, didn't really see much on there. Most of them were looking for around 300, which is hilarious lol. Ebay seems to be the cheapest, I just wish there were more buy it nows. I would rather do that then an auction, but so be it lol.

Oh the growing pains of new adoption. In all honesty I have owned all iOS Android and WP7 and when I sit there and think about all that I do on my phone. Facebook, Text Twitter, Phone calls, 4sq and a few others out of the millions of apps out there how often do you use more than maybe a handful.

There are just things on each that I liked. But look at iPhone how long did it take them to get MMS added to their service? How long before their phone actually had a flash? Same with Android so much software fragmentation. Every phone or service is going to have some type of limitation. That is what you get with being an early adopter. You have to learn it TAKES time to grow.

I actually had tried WP7 out before and i did hate it. But with watching videos and this Mango update coming out I went out and bought a new one and honestly with what I do on my phone it is a very nice phone. So please give it time all good things come to those that wait.

;)

Hey wpcentral! Really excited about Windows Phone, especially mango. I realize that mango won't be available until the fall, but I'm ready to switch now. I'm on att, and I'm looking at either the focus or the HD7S. My question is, if I take my sim from my iphone 4, put it in adapter, then put it into the hd7s, will it work? Also, will I be able to keep my unlimited data plan, or will I have to give it up?

Welcome to wpcentral and to the world of wp7.

Now as to being able to use your sim from the iphone 4, well with an adaptor it should work, but I do not know from personal experience. I do know though from personal experience that the dataplan for an iphone is seen as a different data plan. So if you did get the sim to work in the new phone it is not likely that you will have data service. To solve this problem and if you are leaving the iphone and wont go back, I recomend you go to a corperate at&t store to have then convert your plan. The good news is that at&t will allow those that have the unlimited data plan to keep it, since if they changed it they could potentially be in breach of contract. Just be kind to the people in the store as they will be your best asset to get this done.

I got lucky and got my LG Quantum on ebay for $62 including shipping. The only thing wrong is the power/lock button did not work. I was able to get that fixed and is now working great.

Well it was actually a friend of mine that fixed, it he had to use part of the lower valume button to fix the power button. All now works and I am really liking the wp7 experience enough that my samsung captivate sat so long that I went to power it on and the battery was completely draind of juice.
