Noob needs serious help please

Ok, Im going to give you the short version since I am tired of searching for the answer for days now. Here goes. First off I am NOT to tech savey. I love the htc pro 2, but it's alot of phone for me. I swear I dont no what 3/4 of everything on it does...but anyway. Got the phone, (sprint) flashed the rom from this website, which I absolutly loved, but I have been having so many issues with phone since doing it. VERY VERY doggy. It freezes on me atleast 7 x's a day..I could go on and on. But the latest and worst thing that has happened is that my key pad for my phonejust disssapered..and it took with it all my contacts. (The first day. The next day my photos left. I hace tried EVERYTHING to get it all back, except doing a hard reset. If I remember right I was told if I ever needed to take phone in to have it worked on to delete this rom off and default back to origianl one..because Sprint would not honer insurance or anything like that because I messed with phone operating system. Am I right on this? When I push on the icon at top of screen, (I guess it's the phone service. It says no phone service, but I am connected to 3g..also yesterday when i tried to set up my email account, it went to the ISP screen. ( think) and where you put in the info manually, on the 3 or 4 line the numbers were already there, but it said Mac oo-23-76-41-ad65. That hs never been there before. Can anyone think of what to do? I sent message to the guy who cooked thisRom, but haven't heard back from him, and I just can't go with out phone service any longer. There is also other issues, but the no phone service is the worst. Thank god I can still tether. I did call Sprint, and everything looks fine on my phone from there end. All thoughts and advice would be REALLY appreciated. One more thing..is it possible to have a vires on phone, and how could i detect it and remove? Thanks so much,

You're right about Sprint not honoring the warranty when the phone has a cooked ROM installed.

What ROM did you flash and where did you find it?

I put MalRom by Malatesta. I think the rom was great..It just started freezing up on me in the beginning, really minor things, but they got to be frustrating/ Especially to a newbie with no patience. I basically really got the rom because he had tethering already on it. Sprint downloaded 6.1 on my phone when i took it in to them to get fixed. They made notes on paperwork NOT to download it, and i even stayed in the store with phone. They mysteriosly lost if for almost 4 hrs..blah bllah..still didnt fix problem, so took to another store and they replaced it with the touch pro 2. i hd regular touch before. Anyway I also really liked my daughters iphone, but wasnt willing to walk away from Sero plan from sprint. So i thought this was next best thing. Actually I think his rom is BETTER! I just don't no how to fix things whwen they get flubbed up. As I said in first post. I could have done this myself (loosing the keyboard and all contacts, but I really don't think so. It was fine one night, and Next morning I turned it on and had nothing. So do you have any advice I can try before I do the dreaded hard reset? I gotta haqve a phone to use and it's already been about 5 days. Thanks

Have you installed any programs on your TP2 lately if so start deleting then one at a time to see if things come back. Do you have all your PIM data (Contacts,Emails, Etc...) backed up some where?

Noob need serious help please

I lost all my contacts..well, there probably somewhere on my laptop. (I 'll have to look for them as I have no idea where they got synced to. Fiance set all that up. I honestly can't think of any programs Iv'e downloaded because what
i got from Mal. was pretty extensive, and I don't even use a 1/4 of those programs. I honestly just don't no what they are, so because
i'm scarred I'll mess phone up I just leave programs alone. I no that has to sound so lame, I just don't no where to even begin to even start understanding smart phones. I'll stop now before I embaress myself even futher. lol I think what your suggesting is a hard reset. I also noticed tonight Microsoft caught several bugs on my laptop over the last 7-'8 days I am wondering if they were passed through phone since I tether with it. Is thee a virus protecter i can put on it? If and after I can get it working again. I am suprised I can still use it to get online ect..Again thanks for any and all help you all can give me!!

I hate to say this but it sounds like you are headed for a hard reset. Let me ask you a questions maybe it will help beeping you from having issues in the future. After you flashed Mal ROM did you hard reset? When flashing a ROM after the flash has completed you need to let your TP2 rebuild all the way till you have Touch Flow on the today screen then you need to hard reset. If you don't things might look great at first but later some of the old ROM might be handing around and can cause problems like the ones you are seeing. If you hard rest after flashing it will clean out all of the old ROM and can help prevent problems.

OK, well after thinking about it, the hard reset is what im going to do. Yes, a hard reset was flashed after the rom download so god only knows what the heck I downloaded that messed this phone up. I really enjoyed this rom too. Thank you for your help. I trust you... I have read many many post you have replied to. All the mods are very smart with these peskey, gotta have, will die for devices. lol
on side note my lap top.(not one Im on now, has a virus. Thank god hubby syncs uses desktop and only i use laptop anyway. Should i check for virus on here first, or will hard reset get rid of it? and also is there a free antivirus protecter out there for our phones? Or if not free, then a darned good one? And lastly is there another rom out there you would recommend(that has the internet sharing built in? Or should I put mals back on? I really did like his, but just wondering if there was any others I might want to check into. Thanks again so much. Oh, one more thing. On that program where you back up everything on your phone. cant think of name of it now. it's a free online tool..anyway, will that save my games, or since there may be virus, just trash it all?

About the virus thing if you have a virus on your phone it would be the first one I have ever seen. I think you more likely just got a bad flash that can happen some times. If you realy like Mal ROM I would say try flashing it again and see how it goes. If you want to try a different ROM Mighty Mikes is a nice stable ROM.
