For those who want to know...I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and a Windows Phone 520 on trial for the wife.....On both phones, I have the same Gmail account set-up. Both phone had no sim in it but were on Wi-Fi.

The Lumia 520 had received the Gmail Email fist....with a big difference in time..

The Note 3 was set on push and the Lumia 520 was set at 15 min sync..

What's up with that?

Hehe, 520 >>> Note 3. Seriously though, I'll have to try that out. I have a 520 and Nexus 5. I'll see how receiving gmail messages compare in terms of speed.

I also noticed this. I have set to fetch mail every 30 minutes, but I received a test mail instantly on my 520. Is it possible that Microsoft finally implemented imap idle in gdr3? Because when I was on gdr2 it was not instant.

It might have to do with the way that email is set up on both. You should check if one is set up to a different time than the other.

On the Note 3 the Gmail sync is set on push......On the Lumia 520 the Gmail sync is set at every 15 min.....So technically the Note 3 should have had received that email first because of the push

Well push email is a lie, the email client just refreshes evry now and then.

Maybe the email arrived during the last 30 sec of the 15min cycle, which rendered the 520 way faster? While the note 3 wasn't fetching at that exact moment.

To get a real sense of this, how many times did this happen? Always?

Weird. Is this with the touchwiz email thing or with the gmail program itself?

yeah good point....need to do it a few more time...which I will do later today.... but when on push it should be instant unless, like you said, it's a lie

You should check the play store to see if you can download the Gmail application. It might not seem like much, but it could be Samsung screwing everything up with their version.

Even with the email it is still Gmail. The mail still come from Google...but hey that is something to try as well....I didn't think about it...So yeah I will try

ok, I found the problem....somehow the master sync was disable....it is all good now....receiving email less than a min after being sent....

amd also the Gmail app has to be there for it to work presto....before I had that disable...The native is attach to the Gmail....

Smartphone vs smartphone its the same. Look at CNet they compare iPhone 5c vs s4 mini vs htc one mini vs Lumia 520.

It was a big joke. If pros can do it then why cant weee

Sent from my MIND

That was a comparison of low end phones, (except for the 5c, that darn phone is still pricey even with that cheap name).
