Notification sound limited to Bluetooth headset

I have a Nokia 710 and I have updated the latest firmware and the firmware update. I have had a problem where my calendar notifications and message notification sound is limited only to Bluetooth. If my bluetooth is paired and connected the sound is not heard if I dont have the BT plugged to my ears . Is anyone else facing the same issue or is it limited to my set only. I have a Plantronics M1100. I have deactivated audio confirmations. My ringtone is audible even if the headset is connected. This problem is limited only to messages, reminders and other notifications.
Does anybody have a fix for this.
