Notifications on Windows phone 8.1

Preferably the Android style pull down menu, but I wouldn't mind swiping either.

hi check out this notification screen i created:
notifull4.png

it can be accessed by swiping from the right edge. hehe, wp's still haven't utilized edge swiping so i think it's a good thing to add. the reason why the notification screen can be accessed from the right edge is because in my concept ui, swiping from the left edge switch the apps, similar to windows 8. please check my concept video also. it includes other features also :)

Looks very very nice dude!
I hope MS takes some of the elements from it!

what about a double tap & swipe from anywhere on the screen in any direction? the animation would mimic the lock screen by pulling / swiping the screen to reveal a full featured notification area underneath. the nice thing about this is that it could be done in any direction on any size screen.

I wrote a post about the notification animation a while back (though there may have been others as well). at the time i liked the pull down because it allows access to the status bar and remains consistent with the "modern" design language. i do however think that consistency between all windows operating systems is important. i have also been imagining how to implement a notification area with larger devices (imagine large screen touch pc) where access should be comfortable and efficient regardless of size.

while on the subject. i strongly disagree with a swipe left. the left swipe this is only accessible by returning to the homescreen and then swiping. additionally i think microsoft could solve tile sizing issues and create consistency between all of their operating systems by allowing a scrollable homecreen. I would love to see the app list to the left of the home screen and an infinitely scrollable homescreen to the right. This would easily allow a larger device to display an additional column of tiles instead of the current situation where the tiles just get larger and larger as screen size grows. another huge advantage would be that that the user experience would remain consistent when changing devices or upgrading hardware.
