notifications

Yea I agree but the live tiles are scattered. I want all notifications for every single app in the me hub. Most of the apps don't use the lives tiles very well. Whatsapp should flip and show who the message is from, instead it does a number like some ios copy.

Doubtful there would be a hub for notifications, my guess is, live tiles will be the primary notifications system.

Unlikely you will find this in WP8.

I'd say the live tiles will serve as the central hub, that was their whole purpose to give you a glance at everything without even opening the app. With the new start screen you'd be able to better organize it and see more notifications. Basically, you want to see new notifications, hit start and viola. Hit back to go back to whatever you're doing. Right now this process works alright, but if you have a lot of pinned tiles it makes it a chore to scroll through all the large squares to find what you're looking for, this I think is remedied in 7.8/8 because of the smaller tiles.

Ya I think the smaller live tiles will remedy this some. Any way I can't wait for wp8. When I was on at&t I had the titan, when I switched to Verizon I purchased an android because I felt the trophy was outdated spec wise. I can't wait to get back on Windows phone.

Don't forget, it's also looking like you can choose which apps you want to show a notification count on the lock screen, with one app being able to show a more detailed message:

I've moved on from the Trophy to a Galaxy Nexus but will be coming back to Windows Phone as soon as the WP8 devices are released. I like having a device that will be updated pretty much straight from the manufacturer and WP runs much more smoothly than Android. I'm also impressed by the fact that Windows Phone doesn't need bleeding edge tech to run without stuttering.

I have a nexus too and hate it...battery life is just horrible. Can't wait for a nice wp8 phone on Verizon

I bought a used rezound due to random reboots with my Trophy. Since I got the tango update today I reactivated the Trophy to see how it does. All in all the rezound is a very nice phone, but it's not as pleasant to use as the Trophy.

As far as notifications, I don't think we will see anything similar to android style in WP8.

A nice implementation would be to update the app icon, on the app list, with a number badge, and move all apps with a notification to the top (both could be options).

All the apps I care about area already pinned to the Start screen, and more will get pinned on WP8 due to the new small size, but some people might want to get notified even if the app isn't already pinned.

the start screen doubles as your notification center and it does a great job but... I would have to pin every app that get notifications to the start screen. I like to keep my start screen simple and clean. In WP8, if I add all those little tiles mixed with medium and large tiles on the screen- to me that goes against MS clean WP & W8 Clean minimalistic UI. A screen to the left that aggregates all notifications like the people app is ideal.

Trophy user here. I'm not sure if it's just the Trophy, or all Windows phones but I would like to have an Androidesque notification light. That was so nice being able to leave the screen off and knowing if you had a new email/text/missed call etc.

LED notifications is one thing I wish Nokia would adopt. I believe all or at least some HTC Windows Phones have LED notifications.

In fact, I sent Nokia an email the other day, suggesting they release a WP8 PureView with LED notifications. Here is the rather canned and expected response I received:
Nokia said:
Thank you for emailing the Nokia USA Careline.

In response to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that as of the moment Nokia is yet to create a phone that supports Windows 8 operating system. As well as an LED light notification for texts/calls and PureView.

Kindly be informed that we will treat your email as a suggestion to improve our products and services. The comments you have made will not go unnoticed and we will strive to ensure that every effort is made to assure our customers of the level of commitment available.

Maybe others should flood Nokia with the same suggestion? The functionality is built in to WP7 since it exists on HTC phones. It's just a matter of the manufacturers implementing it.

The LED on HTC phones only lights up for missed calls. There's nothing for texts or emails. That's the way it is for the Trophy at least.

Meh, I thought it did more then that.

IDK why a smart phone, in this day and age, wouldn't have an led notification. I realize iOS is a little lacking in this department too. They have the option to use your camera flash, but it's too bright and annoying cause you have to set your phone face down.

I agree that the battery life of the Galaxy Nexus is terrible. I have the Samsung extended battery but still have to turn off LTE to make it through the day, and sometimes that's not even enough. I had the Galaxy S III for about 10 days and the battery life was much better but I just hated having a manufacturer's skin on top of the OS. It makes finding options and settings harder and in most cases it introduces bugs and delays updates (which is already a problem for any phone on Verizon). All in all, WP8 can't come soon enough for me as an Apple device is no longer an option for me after seeing their practice of suing every competitor over the most generic of patents.

As others have said, I'd love to see an LED notification light implemented. That is one feature that I would truly miss when I do leave Android.

Ya the battery life on my s3 is pretty good, but I too can't wait for a wp8 device. I might get a Nokia. I haven't had a Nokia before. A notification light like my s3 would be great. I use it all the time.

When I first went to WP from Android I missed the led notification, but after a while I got used to being without it. I went back to android for a month and I liked the led, but I can do with or without it.
