This is not about the pics I've taken (only a couple so far). This is about the software behind the camera.
So what gives? Look at Camera settings. You can't select for differing resolutions other than by aspect ratio. The drop down is there, but it is grayed out.
No 5MP + 16MP for 16:9 jpg... Weird.
No selectability in Camera360 Sight or ProShot either except for aspect ratio. Camera360 Sight reports nothing about capture size and ProShot reports it will capture 9MP.
I've taken shots with both apps and they are capturing 9.88MP in 16:9 (4192 x 2356). Why, for crying in the mud?
I've also installed Interop Tools and had a look under the hood. I can't enable DNG capture or tweak any of the manual settings for more granularity. It all looks a bit weird under there. Far as I can tell, Qualcomm is in direct control of the module rather than the OS.
The underpinnings are the same as a budget phone. No discretion or discernment whatsoever.
