Official Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 Discussion and Problem Solving Thread

has the User Agent been fixed in the new update that is rolling today? When selecting Desktop Mode, what does whatismybrowser.com shows now?

It says Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.

Mobile Mode says Internet Explorer 11 on iOS 7

I am using Lumia 720. Update is released for the Phone & Status is showing in Website. I have 4 GB free space. While Downloading -- Dowload stop at 70% with the Message - "The update couldn't be downloaded (801882cb)".

Please provide me the solution.??????

My phone is currently on WP 8.1 update 1. There's a official update rolling out in my country. I've rest phone because my SD card is not working properly in Xbox music because I've dropped my phone in the hard concrete floor. After the resetting occurred my phone is working properly right now. So back to my I was going to ask if I'm going to update my phone to the official update from Nokia. Is there will be a problem if I'm going to update my phone to official update? Because wpcentral says there's a problem in updating there phones into the official update from Nokia. And do I need to set up my dev preview account again? Because of the hard reset. Pls answer me

So, after my update, all went well. But I want to give some advices first: Before updating you should do somethings, as seen in other places and maybe repeating:

BEFORE UPDATE!

- shutdown the phone and TAKE THE BATTERY OFF; this will prevent sd card issues and if there is any problem with the card, windows will try to fix it
- if possible do the update without the sd card
- move important apps that are stored in the card to the phone storage and check if they work well; apps in the card will slow the process and lead to problems
- make sure you have plenty of space in phone storage and sd card
- connect to USB external power; don't do updates with battery power only... for the obvious reasons

Be aware that the update will take at least 30 minutes and the first 20 it looks like it is stopped, but let it do it until it ends.

AFTER UPDATE:
- at least all sd card apps will be upgrades so this will impact in the phone performance; go to the app list and you will see "installing" in those ones; just take the time for a coffee or two and relax
- check for battery consumption; I still have a bluetooth bug and it was draining battery again, so I restarted the phone at least twice within 15 minuts
- turn BT, GPS and all things you usually use and make a few tests

Don't forget, that if you find a problem restart the phone and take the battery off for a few seconds. It worked for me.

I did encounter some problems with my "cycle trcak gps" because the app was in the sd card and the sd card was a little weird. I tried another GPS app and it was ok, so it was that app problem. I restarted the phone 4 times and only when I took the battery off, it worked.

Is it faster now? I think so and the battery usage seems better, because for a few hours, I see a horizontal line and before it was not like that. Let's see how it goes for a day or two.

Good luck.

You need to install the app again and then turn on the checkbox "Enable Preview for Developers". Then in settings go to phone update.

Update 1 ruined my 1320. Tapping while scrolling, IE doesn't render pages correctly, does it slow and random crashes. On youtube, i got this pink/grayish small dots all over my screen and it completely locked my phone, i mean this was similar to my laptops GPU failing, pink and gray lines all over the screen. (soft reset helped). Everytime i soft reset, "there seems to be problem with SD card". Random reboots, phone gets so hot that it hurts. Battery is draining, constant location polling and network usage (Cortana?). Sometimes my phone doesn't even ring when someone is calling/other notifications muted too. I think I'm finally done with WP.

Hard reset. Remember Update 1 is within the Developer Preview program and thus you accept any other bugs in the OS. Downgrading back to WP8.1 should fix all your problems

Question: I currently have 8.1.1 DP installed on my AT&T 920 device...If I utilize the Nokia Recovery Tool, to 'try/force' Cyan, will I then have to install official AT&T 8.1 update when it is finally rolled out? I would assume the 8.1 Cyan firmware that Nokia Recovery Tool forces, will not have 'certain AT&T drivers....' not worried about any AT&T apps, as I immediately delate them all, with the exception of 'MyAT&T' app...Thanks

This is what I get with running (not installing) with the Nokia Recovery Tool:

So I image, you would have to 'wait' for the official AT&T 8.1 Cyan firmware update to roll-out, then the Nokia Recovery tool would pick it up (thus no need to downgrade to 8.0), then install from there...Once AT&T 8.1 Cyan firmware is installed then 'reinstall the Developer Preview app--->enabled' to get 8.1.1 Update...?

As far asI know there's nothing like At&T drivers, all drivers come with the OS and Firmware (Cyan in this case), so when you talk about getting Cyan update on your L920, you're talking about WP8.1 at the same time.

If you revert your phone to WP8 that's ok in order to get the "official" cyan//wp8.1 update, and yes later you can install the Preview for developers and get the GDR1 for WP8.1

Good Luck!

Thanks epilefnalber...what I found out...(I always research very thoroughly prior to posting), once the official OTA AT&T Cyan 8.1 firmware is released in USA, then you can utilize either Nokia Software Updater(NSU) or Nokia Software Recovery Tool 1.4.3 in order to pickup the Cyan firmware....without having to downgrade to 8.0.

currently I'm on latest Dev Preview with my L920. I was trying to downgrade my OS to get Cyan but I'm not sure.

Installed NSU and it says "You can install software version 3051.5009.1424.0004"
Currently my software version "3051.40000.1349.0003" should I proceed?

Question: I just installed the 8.1 update in my Lumia 920 phone. After installation, I noticed a slight yellowish discolouration in my screen on the top and right bottom edges. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix this issue?

I have the same problems... plus: the camera, proximity sensor and the gyroscope don't works anymore !!!! :O

Also before the cyan update I had the same problems too (I'm subscribed to the developers preview) and I haven't solved them even if I made a system restore and a downgrade with the nokia's software

i have updated my 620 to cyan via NSFT.
And nw after updating to cyan i cant update to Update 1 through PFD.
I hav the PFD app & its enabled. When checking for updates it shows "we are currently unable to check for updates (80072ee2)"..
And when i disable the PFD app it shows ur phone is upto date..
any solution for this..
please help.
Thanks in advance..

I'm in India, using a Lumia 820 still running on Windows 8. I've been checking for updates on my phone and every time I'm told my phone is up to date. Hence I don't get the Windows 8.1 update which I can download. What should I do in order to upgrade to the Windows 8.1?

after update to cyan why official folder not run at my lumia 920 ?? how to fix it ????

All good now in my 1320, latest DP update solved most issues. Battery life increased significantly.
