oh dear, is my camera dead

Hi everyone,

I posted a while ago my camera was behaving oddly, shaking by itself etc. Now the camera won't even load, despite opening in Nokia Camera Beta, Nokia Camera and WP Camera.

The camera apps just show a blank screen or sometimes resuming.../loading...

Is it suffice to say my camera has failed hardware?

Its running 8.1, I noticed someone else had the same issue, turns out the camera unit did fail

have you tried downgrading it to windows phone 8.0 via nokia recovery tool ?

I would but the Lumia cyan update is due within a few days

My camera failed on my 1520 a few weeks ago - was running 8.1 but reverted to 8 with the Nokia tool and was still having issues. Sent it in for repair and Nokia sent me a brand new unit.

I was having similar issues though, just a blank screen with any camera app. Both front facing and rear facing were just showing a black screen and some apps (like Nokia Camera) had all the buttons disabled and greyed out. I highly doubt that Cyan will fix it for you - and remember it's still in testing with the carriers, you might get it today and you might get it in 2 months... who knows!

It says on Nokia Europe its due within few weeks and as many have suggested, I guess I'll get it repaired.

Mine doing same thing shaking bad and only since 8.1 and hoping cyan fixes mine too........wont send for repair cant go 3-4 weeks with out phone and no att loaners!

Well its working now, the shaking has become non existent... All I did was restart the phone by turning it off and on. However it didn't come up until I actually tapped the camera lense O_O. Now it works better but I have noticed, it produces 2 images in the gallery. One is completely black and one is the actual image. I hope its still working fine going to check OneDrive if any changes.
