Well, I hope this list increases. I am not sure what apps I want or am looking for, but the ones listed are ones that I would not use. I haven't even heard of the first two.

I do wish the paid apps were cheaper. I am not sure if it is MS or the developers who price the apps, but IMO they are too high. I would purchase many more apps if the price was comparable to other platforms. I don't expect them to be free on occasion like other platforms offer, but at least the same price of $.99. I did purchased 4 of the apps at $.99 the day they lowered the price on them recently. I am not cheap but I am money conscious so seeing apps that are $.99 or free on Android and Apple compared to $2.99 on WP just makes me pass them up.

I am sure I am not alone on this.

price has nothing to do with MS unless its a XBL game.

you saying that its stupid for MS to advertise apps we should already have is just ignorant.

first of all: the DEV decide to let MS advertise , so complain to the DEV for letting MS do that. they approach the DEV and ask them to be part of the campaign.

Second: the DEV do it because WP does need advertising for the apps cause a bunch of people think WP has low app count ( witch is true) . and this is just a good way to point out that we are here and are working on getting more apps!!

saving up a bunch of apps that are ready to release and then having some weeklong release campaign actually DIMINISHES the impact for individual devs. Your app is suddenly lost it a week of other A-list releases...and for what? Your app might have been ready weeks ago but it was held back for stupid MS app parade.

Release apps when they are ready, not hold them back for some fluff PR campaign. I could give a **** that the ignorant masses think 80k apps are too few. I want the quality apps to release when they are ready.

I dont think thats 100% true.

ill give you my experience with the XBL games they did this with.

every week they had 1 new XBL game , sure they could of said , ok here are 10 new games! and be done with it , but honestly i probably would of tried ONE and called it a day because i play it for 2-3 weeks.

the fact that all the games where spread out over 2months actually allowed me to get MOST of them ( only paying 5$ a shot appose to 50$ one shot )

and considering the market place only shows 10 iish apps per page , if they come out with 50 apps I think it has a bigger chance of getting lost and never downloaded then giving each app 1 week of advertising 

that’s just my point of view

your post just proved my point. If they release one big name app a week you can advertise the **** out of it. Spew a whole slew out in one week and it is just one big party and done.

It also gives a very bad impression that Microsoft is providing a very big pay for play effort, even if true. If the apps release on their own accord it has less of a pandering feeling from Microsoft. We all know that Microsoft is probably handing out grubby wads of cash to devs who won't budge...but don't be so obvious about it.

I am talking about XBL games. Why should they cost 3x's the price compared to others? There are many examples, just about every game actually. Monster Island is one for example. I liked playing it on my ipod touch and saw that it was released for WP. The marketplace charges $2.99, it has been out on Apple since 09/21/2011 and has never been above $0.99. It has actually been free two different times. Not just free for a day either, the free time totals 30 days.

Again, I don't expect free, but if it was $0.99 on WP I would get it today. This is just one example, but there are many apps, mainly XBL games that I would gladly pay $0.99 for. I just can't justify the current high prices.

By the way, I do love my WP. There are some things that I hope can improve, but that is with any device.

Three off the top of my head are:
1. I would like to be able to adjust the volume and snooze time on the alarm
2. I wish music ringtones were easier to apply
3. I wish the same games/apps were the same price as other platforms
4. I wish there was an option to keep wifi on when the phone is locked
5. I wish there was a separate volume control for the ringer/headphones/games

Sorry to take the thread off topic. If I should post this somewhere else I can.

well the reason for XBL games costing more has been explained before but its because of Achievement! and MS considers does games *premium* , you can find more details here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/os-discussion/187393.htm#post1625448

now im not saying i agree with the extra $$ but it is what it is.

I am new here and I didn't see that thread, so thanks. Well...I have a 360, but I don't care about achievements or trophys on the PS3. I really hope that is not the real reason they cost more, otherwise you are just buying achievements, and that was a big complaint in the review for Monster Island posted in the review section on this site.

I would gladly pay 0.99 each and be unable to get achievements.

I realize it is what it is, but hopefully MS realizes they are charging more for a product that you can get somewhere else for less.

End of my complaint.

Any tips on the other things I brought up?

yeah it is the real reason sadly LOL! but its a little more , achievements , online XBL leader boards , but I also think they plan on adding MORE feature in the future ( with WP8 AKA Apollo witch will HOPEFULLY justify this cost increase a little mreo )

but the fact that you ALREADY pay 70$ to get a 1 year XBL live account , if any thing it should be cheaper. haha

ah well :(

PS check out the thread in my signature if you haven't already done it. if your new :)

As the new owner of the lumia 900, i'd say this list isn't all that important.

Damn near 100% of the people i let try out my phone, love it.
BUT, first question is always the same, "does it pay words with friends?", second question, "does it do instagram?".

2 apps i've never used and don't care to, but people want them and most will NOT switch to an OS that doesn't have them.

Honestly, i think if wp7 played words with friends there would be at least 50% more windows phones out in the wild.

I think companies know MS is hard up for their apps and are demanding absurd amounts of money to make or release them.
Hopefully they won't bend it until it breaks.

you can't build your phone around fad apps. When Windows Phone released back then it was "does it have Groupon?" Well Groupon came...you can see it isn't a big deal anymore. Instagram will come and go and Wordament is gonna be a contender to Words with Friends.

1. Good Lord, yes!
2. This would be nice...
3. This also would be nice, but given WPs low adoption rate I get it.
4. Don't currently have internet at home, but would want this feature if I did...
5. This is the ONLY this I miss about my old feature phone.

And may I also add...

6. More theme colors.
7. Custom messaging/alert tones.

So the real answer is getting these "fad apps" to be released at the same time as the other platforms, right? I'm pretty sure that not having currently popular games like DrawSomething is hurting the WP, but letting them come out months later (or not at all) certainly doesn't help either, especially if they're half the price. And people considering conversion to WP don't want to "trade down" for a copy-cat app (as in Wordament) unless the app is actually better.

What more can MS be doing to entice developers to include a WP version of their apps alongside Android and iOS, or at least within a respectable time period? I agree that releasing apps in waves doesn't seem to make much sense.

I'm not sure why they push games so much since it doesn't seem to be the MO of users of this platform. All I see is games
