One app "stuck" in limbo... can anyone help?!?

I have one app that is stuck in limbo between needing to be updated and not being installed. Should would like an idea of how to rectify the situation without having to do a hard reset (which I have done previously). By stuck in limbo, I mean that when I go to the store and look for updates, it finds but can never install said update. When I go to the app, it doesn't launch but instead takes me straight to the update queue where it fails to update. The solution seems to be for me to uninstall and re-install from scratch, but uninstall is greyed out when I press/hold on the app, as if it isn't installed. What gives here?? BTW, the app is DIRECTV.
 
Error updating in store is "Something went wrong. The error code is 0x80073cf9, in case you need it"
