Outlook messages slightly delayed

Just received my Lumia 920 and love it so far! Made the move after about 3 weeks with my new Surface 2, because of the promise of a single, productive ecosystem. I'm new to Outlook.com and decided to switch to that from gmail. I had been using gmail to serve my Kindle tablet and iPhone, while using my ISP on Windows 7 Mail desktop.

I want to go all Outlook.com through Windows Mail 7, Lumia, and Surface. I've got it going on Lumia and Surface and just looking into the Windows Mail. One thing I'm noticing is that I am receiving email from Outlook in a delay, compared to Gmail. The delay seems to be about 30 minutes to an hour or more.

Is this normal? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi - you just need to change the settings

In the email app click the three dots > settings> click your outlook account > sync settings > change Download new content to 'as items arrive' instead of 'every 30 minutes'.

Sorry, not sure

I would try remove then re adding the account see if that helps?

After much messing around this weekend, it seemed that Outlook.com is (or was?) a bit buggy. I would delete my email accounts, then try to add ... sometimes it said it couldn't connect to my account, but if I kept trying it eventually would. Then it would mysteriously disconnect. This went on all day yesterday and last night, but today it seems stable and speedy! Keeping fingers crossed.
