Outlook vs. Live and Birthday Calendar

Hi all, this is a little complicated, but maybe someone can help out:

Email account is outlook, works like a charm. Also, contacts are set up and syncrhonised thought outlook.

In the calendar, there is the option of including the Windows Live Birthday Calendar, but I don't have any contacts in Windows Live, since I synchronise with Outlook

Is there any way of showing the birthdays of my contacts saved in my Outlook address book without copying all of them into Live?

I also don't want to have to buy a birthday app. Shouldn't the Calendar be able to read the birthdays from the Contacts, regardless which account they are synchronised to?

Windows live has the "birthday app" built in. Outlook does not create a birthday calendar on its own, but you can set it up - Create a new view - Keep track of birthdays and anniversaries - Office.com
