part of the touch screen is dead

My touch screen has gone dead in the part circled in red. Yesterday it was fine but today it happened. I tried everything from restarting to resetting it but sadly the problem persists. Now I am feeling I am missing something . To be fair, my SP3 is nearly 2 years old but I see some people have their SP3 up and running just fine. Has anyone had that happened to you and how can I fix it? Or it's time that I buy a new laptop? On the plus side, my SP3 was plagued by the phantom touch issue a lot especially when a headphones jack is plugged. That's gone since the dead touch happened.

I went there too (touchscreen apparently dead on some area of the screen) but luckily for me the touchscreen was finally not dead -
I used the procedure described in

Step 4, 5, 6 or 7 (I do not remember - certainly not 8 or more and I think 6).
I also installed the multitouch test app

Not sure all this will help you but it did for me.

Thank you so much for your help but I tried all the steps in the guide and the problem is still here. Maybe it's time I start saving. I love my SP3 and I have grown to get used to the fan noise and the throttling. Perhaps by the time I have enough money, they will release the SP5 and the SP4's price will go down and become affordable.
